I have four Barbour items - an unlined jacket, a wool lined coat and two "commando" sweaters. I bought them all in the UK years ago and have gotten good use from them. I am not a particular Anglophile, but the Barbour stuff is good.

There are several types of poly - one is designed for use with potable water. Ditto for PVC.

I think that this would work on a trailer IF you make sure that you have access to the crank spud on the lower tent when deployed. Tuffy makes some 'Hell for stout" slides that will hold 500 lbs. when extended. Might look at their specs...

I do not know the dimensions of your tent, but BajaRack makes a good flat rack in two sizes - and they are priced within reason.
