    Dice...... The 1978 Jeep Wagoneer

You might try Hellwig overload springs instead of add-a-leaf. A little more money, but better ride. I had them on a 78' with KYB shocks.

Why don’t more people take the WK2 overlanding?

I own both. I own both JKU and WK2, they each have their own purpose. I love them both and so does the wife. You do get odd looks when the WK2 is off road such as Echo Canyon in Death Valley. When the air suspension is down and you are off pavement, I am sure people are wondering how did he get...

    need new shocks

I think everyone has a definition of harsh ride. My tires are at 40 psi and the adjustable shocks set at their highest rating while on the pavement and I do not think the ride is harsh. I also have heavy duty springs and a heavy load. I always air down when leaving the pavement. I would start...

need a good side mount Jerry can holder

The first smittybilt design has been around since con-ferr developed it in the 60's. I am an old timer been jeeping since then. It is very durable but only works with cans that have the lip on the bottom. You can crush the top handle on the can over time. I would weld a brace (when the can was...

    Need Some Quick Input

I have not had any problems with my 08' but I only have 60,000 miles. I also have a manual transmission. I could not stand the auto even in the test drive. Personally I would not buy a used jeep unless you like to work on vehicles. I have owned jeeps and jeeped for 38 years. I bought my son a...

Why not use frozen water bottles for cooler for 2-3 day trips?

I thought that was what everybody did. I prefer rectangular Nalgene bottles or rectangular juice bottles.

Les Schwab (Dean) Back Country SQ-4 A/Ts? Impressions?

I would check the warranty. I had a set of Dean's, not this model, when they exploded, the warranty was worthless. They were Load Range E but not carrying a load when the problem occurred. Just my 2 cents.

    California trailer registration

If the out of state trailer you buy does not have a title and you receive a bill of sale; make sure you get a notary to verify the owner's signature and the bill of sale has the VIN on it. You may also need a weight slip for the weight of the trailer. This is what was required to bring a...

    Weight/lift/performance issues for JKUR

I have had my JKU since 2008, most of my accessories heavy. There is now a selection of aluminum bumpers, skids, etc. I would looking to these. I am partial to the Rockhard rear bumper, made in USA. I carries a good load and does not rattle. I have even considered replacing my steel bumpers...

Has anyone built a 2wd rig?

One thing I do not think was mentioned is the low gearing of the transfer case in 4WD especially if loaded. Using low range to go up or down a steep forest service road is a lot safer than in 2WD. If you do not need to use your brakes going down hill is always safer. We see very few 2WD pickups...

    Shocks

It all depends on your driving habits and weight load. For my JKU every 20,000 to 30,000 miles. My Camry went 100,000 miles. F-250 diesel 40,000 miles. These are shocks in the $110.00 +/- price range. This next time for the JKU I am going to try the Teraflex Falcon shock probably with reservoir...
