FYI- Rayra probably won’t see/respond to your question. A few members here believe he was unofficially banished from this forum (or he chose to not return). Seems to have come from a difference of opinion between he and a moderator. Reports say he went to another board.
Re: gonna get worse…
Ran across a YouTube channel this week talking about the Transportstion or Infrastructure bill that just signed into law. I totally forgot the number (sorry). But within it is a section with a manufacturer OEM installed kill switch for most consumer vehicles.

Honest question:
What are the options for electric vehicles when there isn’t a charging station at your destination? Like Death Valley or a remote trailhead?
1999 GMC Suburban K1500 5.7gas OEM everything.
When I switch the button from 2wd to 4hi it’s normal sounds until I hit about 20mph then it’s a sort of sandpaper noise. Not grinding but not smooth.
BUT when I select Auto4wd, there isn’t any additional noise at any speed. (Yes the wheels lock...
Technology isn’t the problem, bad drivers are.
I see at least one driver a week w/o lights on.
A week before Christmas, even with oncoming drivers flashing lights, for almost 20minutes, the dumb driver still didn’t get it. They drove across town before they turned their lights on.
Here’s a few thoughts on the prior 4 pages:
CA banning generators is just more proof CA lawmakers are out of touch and biased/manipulated/paid for by the green industry.
Targeting a specific industry, and tool, is seriously myopic.
Generator use isn’t just for camping.

Rayra has a thread that goes into detail of his roof rack and variations along the way.
Minimizing road noise will be sort of trial & error. Your vehicle is unique with your rack. The simple solution is a front air dam. But the angle and height will be a factor in how much noise it creates...
Can we get back to discussing the OP question of design:
“considerations which would go toward a system allowing SOME carrying capacity, draining of water accumulation, and MINIMALIZING road noise.”

If you’re willing to try something new/different (workflow, file management, storage) go with an iPad.
Some go all iPad.
Most go all MacBook/laptop.
A few...
According to
You must ignore the features of said vehicles. The designers know not of Metcalf and his decree. We must now acquire different vehicles. His Highness Metcalf has spoken, it is now the law of the land.

Then why are vehicles designed with roof racks?
I have a suburban. We travel with 2 adults and 3 large dogs. That’s 2/3rds of the cargo space inside. We don’t have a trailer. How do you suggest we carry items if we don’t use the OEM roof rack? And no, towing anything is not an option.
One of his last posts was indicating a challenge to the mods (naming one in particular) and they were listing their LA home headed to Vegas.
There is a lot of wheeling in those red rocks around Vegas.

The M1 MBP and M1 iPad Pro’s are both out.
All major software companies are expected to support mobile computing and the M1 chip.
the iPad Pro’s have been power houses for mobile productivity, add in an M1 chip and up to 2TB ram... it’s really hard to say with...
This doesn’t address the physical storage, but look at PhotoMechanic. It’s made by CamerBits. It has a new library feature that can track images across storage devices.
The catch; you need to have keywords or metadata associated w/those images.
Bothe Lightroom and PhotoMechanic have the...
