I have had a couple of waggys only older. A 1985 model has lots of electronics that don't always work well. Also expect 10 to 12 miles per gallon.
Good luck on your decision.
Also in most states this rig has no fenders and could not be driven on the road. This jeep might have been built for SEMA, it seems like I have seen it before.
As a previous owner of a couple of old campers, if the roof has leaked and is rotten, the walls probably are too. Check all the screws on the outside to see if they are rusted. There is supposed to be a sealant behind the screws. Good luck.
Can you order an axel the correct width so you do not need spacers for the Moab wheels? I am planning on a new axel because I cannot find seals for my old one.
Pre-chilling
A couple of frozen milk jugs will pre-chill your refer in 30 minutes or less. Our ARB is one of the best investments we have made for trips. My wife has medicine that must be refrigerated. It was a real pain to maintain a constant temperature with ice plus having to look for ice...
Take a look at the Rockhard rear bumper. It holds 2 gas cans and jack and basket on top of tire. It does not rattle. The only thing is it does not open with the tailgate. I have had mine for 3 years and no problems.
There are companies that make custom designed springs. Pohl Spring in Spokane, WA make springs for everything from mountain bikes to pickups to large construction equipment.
I have seen one clutch fail on a JK. The jeep was stuck in mud up to the floor boards. The owner was shifting between forward and reverse trying to get out. The mud and water ruined the clutch. It was stuck with the clutch disengaged. We towed the jeep to the nearest town to wait for the tow truck.
