Mounting ARB Rack to Fiberglass Shell

Even if the ladder bottom is attached to the nerfs that are attached to the body pinch weld there's something odd as the body and the truck bed are also separate and there is movement between them too. I like that Rhino ladder; my truck has a 5.5 lift so putting the RTT away can sometimes be tricky

Two fridges... how to run(temps) maybe overkill?

I'm about halfway through a home-made slider for a big Dometic CFX75-DWZ. The fridge a bit of an oddity from what I can tell in that the controls, compressor, radiator, fan and electric inputs (and usb output) are all on the same side, so for my slider to work I'm going to have to use a 12V...

    Making a rack better....help!

Go take a look at Wilco Off Road's ADV and Leitner Designs Active Cargo System and copy what works for you. If you can weld, this would be so easy otherwise look into tube clamping systems; maybe scaffold joints?

Mounting ARB Rack to Fiberglass Shell

Just a comment on the picture of the white truck; the ladder looks all wrong. Is it really mounted to the chassis and the roof rack? Not a good idea as there is flex between these two points.

GX470 Roof Racks -- Frontrunner vs K9 vs Rhinorack

I have a big Pioneer platform over my canopy; my issue was versatility; kayaks, RTT, ??? not all at the same time. The Rhino accessories are ridiculously expensive but a quick trip to the local fasteners store and some ingenuity is all that's need to make things work. I strongly recommend the...

Folding motorcycle ramps as sand ladder, repair stand, jack stabilzer...yay or nay?

I think a better approach is to do the reverse; take a good look at bridging ladders and work out if there is a way to modify them for use as bike ramps. Crux ramps kick-butt (https://www.cruxoffroad.com/) and due to their construction, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to connect several "extended...

so when is enough too much when winching or tugging out?

There was some similar discussion on another thread. I think what's often missing from the equation is simple physics. There is no point tugging on an object that is jammed behind an immovable object; this is why it's always a good idea to build/dig ramps to help direct wheels up and over...

HELP!!! newbie Just purchased first RTT

This will be an interesting read. On another thread, I wrote about my concerns about weight, weight distribution and GVWR. As you've already noted, lots of people put a lot of weight up top. Many will also state "never had a problem" but this doesn't mean it's right or safe. You have already...

Dual battery setup with ArkPak and Ctek charger.

Mikey: Why did you run a ground wire all the way from front to back instead of locating a suitable chassis ground under the truck bed? I've been playing with both options (in my head). If I can locate a really good rear ground, it will be significantly cheaper to go this route. I had already...

Single battery setup vs Dual battery setup

My approach is a little different; I have only one vehicle and I don't want to leave all my expensive goodies inside when it's at an airport parking lot for a week or more or when I'm not camping. Also, my 2016 Colorado 3.6, despite having a standard sized battery tray, has the tiniest stock...

    How important is GVWR?

There have been similar discussion on other forums. As already noted, the pop-up companies will happily sell Tacos/Colorados/Canyons anything they want to buy regardless of the truck OEM GVWR or other instructions. The Colorado manual clearly states "do not install a truck bed camper or...

Cheap tricks and solutions - product modifications, DIY, or repurposed items- not on-sale items

I shared this one before; double-sided, metallic bubble wrap bought from the local hardware store. 20 mins later, custom fit inner window sun screens. Each cut just slightly oversize so that the edges can be pushed into the gap between window and frame all the way around. The result is a...

    RTT cover repair/replace

Measure the exact dimensions of your closed tent and share; it's possible that one of us owns an RTT that has a similar sized cover and if so, you may have alternative suppliers that would work for you. How is the Stargazer cover mounted? Does it use zippers on slides? Velcro on slides?

    CFX-35W

Hi all: an interesting thread; we all run our fridges differently which is why it's good to share some detailed anecdotal facts regarding battery run-down times. I think most people just want a rough idea of how long a fridge will run on a non-charging system so that they can size...

    Why use a RTT?

Boatbuilder79: I hear you re the Advil. When I take the thing off by myself, I tug it out from behind the truck to lower to my tailgate (the hardest bit) then flip it over to the ground then flip it one more time onto my dolly; the last flip isn't necessary if I have a buddy to help. My RTT...

    Why use a RTT?

obchristo: to a 6 and 8 year old, a RTT is like a treehouse on wheels. Mine are 8, 11 and 13. Little one an I go up top in the penthouse, 11yr old occupies the truck bed and loves his own space and the 13 yr old (girl) only comes camping if she's got a friend to hang with and they have a tent...

    CFX-35W

deadly 99 is a very competent fabricator; it was my assumption that by "only one" he meant only one house battery; many trucks have more than one. If he did mean only the starter battery then he's got big problems!

    What size recovery strap?

Hi Antony: How will a strap connect to your van? It's likely that you have a tow point, either a hole/hoop or a hook somewhere at the front, maybe one on each side. It's really important to know that these are not rated recovery points, just tow points. There's a huge difference. If you have...
