    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

And this is... a water gun.... yeah. :ar15: Its really exciting! I think a lot of us full-sizers have felt like there wasnt any love for these trucks so why share. Clearly that's not the case, and we've got a little community going now lol. Just take her for a ride in an X and tell her it...

    2000 ford Excursion camping/backcountry vehicle

Haha INSANELY expensive. I won't say exactly how much, but I paid mid twenties for mine with 116,000 miles. It was in exceptional shape in the color combo and gears i wanted so i paid it, but dang it was a hard check to write. People know what these things are worth, and how long they will last...

Whats the biggest quality RTT for $1500?

We covered that tent briefly in our turtleback trailer review, but to summarize it was one of my favorites for the money. Impressive in layout, materials, and comfort.

Thanks NMC! Yeah i ran across a few different board estimates that seemed super heavy and was wondering if that was the case

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

I ended up just buying two 1/2" birch sheets from home depot. While they arent exactly high quality, I think they will do the job when coated with bed liner, color matched to my interior of course ;)

    My 2004 6.0L Excursion Build

Man at this rate we're going to need to start an Overland Excursion club with yearly trips haha. Welcome and glad to see you are starting a build thread! Im interested to hear your thoughts on the 6.0. I hear they are fast but also fast to have issues.

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

Thank you very much! I wanted to lay out the build plan and convey that this truck can get out there just as it is, but it doesnt make for a very interesting piece. :)

Dendy do you know what a 4x8 sheet weighs, or roughly what it is per square foot? I cant seem to find a firm number which makes me feel really dumb haha

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

Well the first article on this truck is out! If anyone cares to read it is published here http://expeditionportal.com/full-size-overland-expos-diesel-excursion-project/ Im running a 255/85/r16 which is quite tall and it is shoved into that space now, but once I lift it the 35s will necessitate...

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

Thanks Dendy :) Yeah I was on the verge of purchasing some light weight stuff, but for the hundreds of extra dollars I figured I would just deal with the extra weight. Of course i could be persuaded if I found something cheap and light enough. Couldnt find your specific brand you mentioned...

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

Well it looks like ill be waiting on suspension and bumper until October to arrive, which sadly means end of November since I will be on the road for a month and a half soon. SO, we begin the interior lol. Tomorrow I'll be working with AT Overland to wire up a solar panel system and the fridge...

    2000 ford Excursion camping/backcountry vehicle

Not sure if you are referring to me when you say both, but Im currently debating between a K9 rack, a front runner rack, and a rhino rack, all full length.

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

Trust me that is coming! I haven't settled on a design yet but im working on it :) It is surprisingly capable thats for sure. In reality I could leave it stock and go most of the places I want but the additional lift and larger tires will take me that much farther and sometimes I need to go...

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

Just over 20 :) With the 44 gallon tank thats nearly 900 miles of range. Thanks! Haha yeah it does tend to do that, but I was pleased to see no oil or rust of any kind. No dirt up in cracks or seems etc.

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

Well I forgot to post these but this truck was extremely clean when I got it. One of the reasons I flew to Georgia. Never driven off-road etc. Anyway I shot the undercarriage after 1000 miles of highway with rain etc. Still pretty clean

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

So it's not exactly a build update, but I spent over ten hours this weekend polishing, clay barring and waxing the Excursion. Over time hard water spots and a sort of haze had built up on the paint. Sadly the hard water stains may have etched the paint, but it still looks better than before!
