All aluminum trailer / spray on bed liner

Aluminum is considered a "special metal" when it comes to spraying it with a polyurethane bedliner. Talk to the bedliner manufacturer first before spraying, they normally recommend first spraying on a prep coating to help with adhesion.

Mark, this Horizon was manufactured in 2004, at that time the torsion axle was becoming popular, with it's high clearance and independent arms we tried it on a few trailers as it seemed like a good option. You can read about the evolution of our suspension system here.

rusty residue showing around flippac torsion bar

The hinge brackets that go into the lid are plated so there should be no rust coming from those. There is a steel bar that runs along the upper edge of the lid on the inside that may rust if it get wet. As already stated the caulking around the hinge brackets on both the lid and body should be...

Newer (3 months old) Diehard Platinum Draining Overnight

Seems suspicious that you are having the same problem with the new battery. I'd have the new battery load tested to see if it's good or not. After eliminating the battery as the culprit it would be time to check the vehicle electrical system.

Propex furnace - Does it work OK at high altitude?

Propex furnace should work well up to 10,000 ft. Truma unit looks interesting. Works as a radiant heater without electrical supply. A blower fan is optional and draws 0.7 amps. Gas consumption is rated at between 0.13 and 1.06 lbs per hour for the 5004 S unit. The unit is 14.72" x 22.32"...

    Coupler Hitch?

Don't know the manufacturer, most probably a home made coupler by the looks of things. If the coupler is not SAE J684 certified it can't legally be used on the road in the USA or Canada. Using it on road would leave all the liability with you. Also looks like the coupler has a single safety...

A family camping trip in a series 1

Ray, rather than wet towels to wrap around your heads, why don't I donate some African Kikoys to you guys for the trip. Amazing piece of kit, an African sarong made from 100% cotton. Lost World Expeditions will vouch for them. Have them in numerous colors and would be happy to send them your way.

    Limitations of the ball hitch

My experience is with 2" and 50mm ball couplers. I am not saying that anything greater than 15' will result in the ball coming out of the coupler, I'm saying that the ball starts to be more likely to release after 15'. It will depend on the design of the ball coupler. Some just have a tab...

    Limitations of the ball hitch

After a ball reaches 15' off vertical it is likely to come unhitched. Not hard to do when the trailer and vehicle are leaning in different directions.

    Autohome customer service

Sounds like your experience with the company improved. When the economy went into recession Mike ran the company single handed, which may explain your initial issues. As the economy improved the staff expanded and the service improved. For small businesses the recession was a killer. Some...

    Autohome customer service

Here is my feedback. I met Lemstreraak around 2002. He was in the Overlanding business before there was an Overlanding business in North America. Solid guy. Mike, is also a solid guy, can't remember when we first met, maybe 2005 or 2006. Our company, AT, has bought tents from these guys for...

National luna powerpack battery decision help

Well you wanted input so here is my 2 cents. I like the idea of interchangeable batteries for the renewal process. I don't like your choice of brands. I'd suggest moving away from Optima to a more reliable brand like DEKA. Go for a Deep cycle / starter, AGM battery like the Intimidator.

Designing subframe for camper... advice anyone?

A few thoughts. Does the camper need this much support? Could you make the frame even more spartan? How are you joining the aluminum tubing together? Aluminum welds can be brittle and crack. Have you thought about bolting it together with gussets? Along the sides above the wheels should be...

    On-Board Heat Source (Stationary)

We do sell the Propex heaters and the portable version of the heater. We chose this model because it separates the combustion gases from the heated air via a combustion chamber and heat exchanger. The result is a very safe unit. The catalytic style heaters do not do this, the heated air is the...

    Dometic propane frig odd problem

Have you tried cleaning the thermocoupler? Sometimes they get a deposit on them where the flame contacts the probe. A small wire brush will usually take care of it.
