Its held on with six bolts down either side - looks like it could be easily removed.

I just watched the PowerfulUK videos of the winch kit installation that they are making. They have three so far - preparation and cleaning, removal of the old bits and installing the winch mount and they are doing a pretty good job of explaining the steps so far. I am impressed with the design...

How much extra fuel do you take?

I added a 10 gallon auxiliary fuel tank to my Defender 90 diesel so I now have a range of around 400 miles plus a 5 gallon Jerry can on the roof to get another 80-100 miles. Sometimes diesel pumps are farther apart in the back country so I like to be prepared.

Tired of all the "crap" RTT's. So I made my own. - TERRAPOD!

Yes, our 6'0" - 180 is a veritable midget in the land of giants - but in Costa Rica in 1974 I had to duck to stand up in the Bluebird bus that was running the route from the west coast up to San Isidro ferrying the native population into town in the morning and back in the afternoon. The...

    Shower Tent/Privacy Enclosure

Anybody need a great deal on a very lightly used Pahaque shower tent? I think it's only been used for two weekend camping trips. I also have a brand new Thetford porta-potti that is too big to fit in the storage compartment of my new Eriba Puck. I'll put an ad up in the marketplace. The Eriba...

Tired of all the "crap" RTT's. So I made my own. - TERRAPOD!

I'm trying to talk him into subtracting about six inches of length to bring it down to normal human size. Since it will be going on a short wheelbase Defender it will overhang the front windshield a bit more than I really want. It will be one of the first Solo models he will build so it will be...

    Shower Tent/Privacy Enclosure

Hilldweller is a bad influence (again) - ordered a Joolca this morning to replace my Pahaque shower tent that is very nice but required about five minutes to setup (or more if you're out of practice).

I'm not going to have to stand on my roof tent because mine will be "special". I'm trying to get Chad to make it "more special" but he is resisting. But the rack is a great option.

    Last resort fire starter?

Doling out cupfuls from the five gallon can of diesel on my Defender works pretty well too. Its something I usually have with me. Diesel burns slow enough to evaporate the water in wet stuff so it will catch fire.

    Defender Build out

Thanks, I've got a 45 qt Engel so it's a little smaller than your Dometic. Do the full size Wolf boxes fit to the right or are they the smaller Cub boxes? My wife had the ability to completely fill the back of the Discovery 5 we had until we got the 110 and I was wondering how I'm going to...

    Defender Build out

How hard were the Lucky 8 rock sliders to install - specifically dealing with the factory undertray? I have a set on order for mine and wondering if they are an easy install. How about some more pictures of the rear storage compartment? I'd like to see some detailed pictures of your fridge box.

Not a problem - except you won't fit in the one I'm getting - being the oversize human that you are.. that mention above of the RTTx-SOLO ? I've volunteered to be the test dummy for that one. We're guessing around 75 lbs.... I went and visited Terrapod World Headquarters a couple of weeks ago -...

Anything compete with the Superlite for weight and cost..?

As the owner of an older Maggiolina for over eight years and with several hundred nights spent enjoying its benefits, I've looked at as many different brands of roof tents as I could to evaluate a possible replacement at some point in the future. The Maggiolina has been a superb tent with a few...

    Looking for RTT opinions

The Aliner suggestion of a a good one, my youngest sister had one and loved it. I'm not sure how it would stand up to long sections of rough road though. My other sister bit the bullet and bought a four wheel camper for her Toyota Tundra. She absolutely loves it and uses it frequently. Her...

D5 diesel - 21 mpg around town, 31 mpg on the highway. P300 Defender 16-18 mpg around town, highway - 21? (Don't know yet) You can buy a nice 2017 diesel D5 for around $35k

    New Defender News

I drove a 2017 D5 diesel for three years and 38k miles and absolutely loved it except for the rear hatch. It was the best road car I've owned and could get over 600 miles on a tank of fuel. The new Defender has better calibrated suspension and a firmer, but more controlled ride. The seats in the...

According to my source at LRNA no diesel for North America - the diesel didn't sell well enough in the Jaguar and Land Rover lines to show enough demand for the future. EPA cerification is so expensive and California is anti-diesel so probably no diesel for US.

Tired of all the "crap" RTT's. So I made my own. - TERRAPOD!

I went to visit Terrapod World Headquarters today and I am extremely impressed with the job Chad has done incorporating new ideas into the final production version - not that the prototypes weren't already some of the best thought out roof tents I've seen - but the improved version is absolutely...

Corrosion is the absolute worst enemy of aircraft which is why you find so many anodized parts on them. That's one of the many reasons why I admire Chad's design path. A black roof tent would be an oven here in the South.

And as someone who has spent many nights in my Maggiolina and has looked at almost every roof tent on the market, I'm glad to say I've reserved number 22 of the first 25. As a retired Lockheed engineer I'm very impressed with the details of the Terrapod and look forward to camping in new roof...
