    Heavy vehicle recovery gear

I just use harbor fright jacks. Make sure you test them under load as soon as you buy them. I have had a couple leak. But once you get a good one I have never had a problem with it failing afterwards. You do have a manual mode. I have only used the PSP twice. Personally I have never used the...

    Heavy vehicle recovery gear

Winches add a lot of weight and without suitable ground anchors are useless. My thoughts are to save the money you would spend on winches and hide it somewhere in the truck to pay for a tractor to pull you out when required. Maxtrax believe that their product will handle my truck at over 20000...

From Freightliner ambulance to RV - we hope!

I am still using the Fleetline ones that came with the truck. They handled Baja roads OK. But I did talk to the guys from King Suspension about getting some big buggers (3") when I put the other axles under the rig.

Slight uphill works as well. My votes. Synthetic and crimped [emoji1] (never solder then crimp but crimp then solder is OK)

Bummer you have already ordered a cable. I have 2 good wire ones sitting in my shop looking for somewhere to go.

1999 Freightliner FL60 Camper Phoenix AZ

Since we will be. Ringing this rig to Expo I decided to finish off a couple of items that have been on the punch list forever. Probably the most interesting was making up some mounts for the traction mats. These are the old Marsden PSP landing mats in steel. Fairly heavy and not very pretty. But...

From Freightliner ambulance to RV - we hope!

No pics it doesn't exist. [emoji1] After playing with generic crimpers I have now started soldering all my big cables. I was spoilt with the quality crimpers we used to have and the stuff I have now just doesn't float my boat. But at under $30 I may give a set of those a try. Especially if they...

    Freightliner ambulance conversion project.

I would suggest trying to get a copy of the MCO from the manufacturer. Other than that it is stamp the number into the chassis and take it for an inspection. Worst that will happen is you may need to do a bonded title.

My next new build is about to start - V3 Explorer - Feedback from the group needed

Ok guys the truth. I'm not the only one who thought back to dress shopping with the missus in the early days: "Does this bumper make my ******** look big!"

    Freightliner ambulance conversion project.

No I never got to that. I bought a set of MRAP axles (locking planetary axles) to put in it and then found the new truck. (Which will get the new axles)

    Window Screens

This probably doesn't help but I have found these to be very useful on the Freightliner. truck-window-screen . They add that little bit of security from the reach in and grab something crowd compared to a cloth/mesh screen.

Having seen what he has done with his truck I would say prioritizer not plodder. Sometimes it is better to spend $ than time.

I liked the look of those sofa's but they will not do any custom lengths which is a PITA.

Hit the 50 votes in under 8 hours. Not too bad for something that is "Function over form".

Public Service Announcement: 1/2 Price New Thetford Curve Toilets

The pump sucks. I have had 2 fail and a new pump is $80. So we just use a squirty bottle. But I agree with Joaquin, more comfortable on old knees and the base is a bonus.

Wow!! The first lot of ultrasonic thickness testers I bought were over $5,000 ea. Bob's right, everyone should have one in their toolbox. Not sure what for but surely we have a use for it.

    2003 International 3800 Bus Conversion

Bugger! But at least the 2000 series had lockup on most gears didn't they? Makes a big difference to the heat they produce. Also some of them had a builtin parking pawl so you didn't have to worry about driveline parking brakes.

    F 450 4x4 Ambulance Build

With your leg supports consider having 3 pipes sliding through holes into the storage area under the bench. With a frame on the front of them which has the legs on it. Just slide them in and out as required. I used that preformed scaffolding type pipe (about 1 1/4) and then just used 1 1/4...
