Many GMT900 1500 Avalanches and Yukons came equipped with 6-lug 9.5” semi float rear axles. Same coil setup.
If you want 8-lug than an H2 axle will work, but may need the shock mounts moved. I think it’s wider as well, but not certain.
I don’t think there is a way to get 8-lug stuff up front...
Thanks for that! I’m trying to get my truck to the point where it’s preserved enough that one day when I can afford it, there is still a truck left to restore properly. In the meantime, I want to get it ready for a potential trip to Moab in the Fall.
I can’t say enough how impressed I am with...
“How do I get rid of my Death Wobble!?!?” Said no GM IFS owner ever...
Lol! Says the guy with a GM solid axle. It’s a 10 bolt... Everyone knows they explode if you drive them on dirt... maybe that’s why there aren’t more GM builds? Stupid 10 bolts.
The Dynamat combo that MG used on the Optima Van was impressive! Not cheap though so I would recommend Raamat and Ensolite for the bulk of the job and invest in some Dynapad for around the dog house. Also, check the lower dog house clamps for tightness. Over time they loosen up and the seal...
Pretty sure in his first post he stated that it is for a dry land sled team...
...yep.
Also mentioned his girlfriend puts her dogs in crates. Her #1 priority is keeping them in the vehicle. Roll with it.
1) Ok. Pickup trucks are out. Easy enough. That leaves vans and suvs.
Ford E-Series has a low entrance price, tons of interior room, multiple vendors that support suspension upgrades, and with the exception of the diesels, is easy to maintain. Stock ride is terrible, so suspension upgrades...
Tex68w,
To get this thread back on track...
Have you slowed down on the plans for this truck now that you have the PW? Do you have other uses for the Ford or has it become a commuter vehicle of sorts? I know they do things big in Texas, but I’d kinda go bonkers with two huge rigs that I...
It was a playful jab at what was most likely an autocorrect of the word overlanding to overloading. Overlanding being synonymous with bolting tons of stuff (overloading) to a vehicle and going on a road trip. I didn’t read it as him being critical of you.
Does she NEED 4wd? Doesn’t sound like it based on the whole Transit Connect thing.
I agree with some of the others that a clear defined list of priorities needs to be developed. If dogs in the cab are number one, then that moves you in a certain direction. If true off road capability is...
Yeah, I think you are fine. It is my stinky 6.2 diesel that concerns me. If there’s positive pressure in the cab, it’s a non-issue. Being out in the PNW, water intrusion is more of a concern to me. I’m spending a ton of time chasing leaks trying to get this cab dry so I can reinstall carpet...
I like the idea of the rear cab vents, but I am concerned about leaking, noise and exhaust fumes. I guess their benefits out weight their risks? These doors are such a pain to close when all the seals are new.
Brad
I had a ‘93 Blazer. Cool rig, but the switch gear inside was garbage, especially the hvac controls. Make sure to get the newer interior that went away from the big gray plastic buttons. (96-99?)
Have you considered a K5? Already has a solid axle and dead simple to work on.
Broncos are cool...
