You want the trailer battery to get a full charge from the battery. Your best bet would be a DC to DC charger.
I've had luck with this charger on past trailers of mine. 10 ga wire is fine.

First thing the 12 volt wire in the 7 pin will not charge a battery. You would have to wire a separate circuit to charge an aux battery.
Are the trailer lights on the M416 LED lights? The Plug needs to see resistance to register voltage. You can get a tester plug.
Pro Tip
The break-a-way battery does not charge with shore power nor when attached to the tow vehicle. It is a good practice to check it for a charge. The battery is easy to remove and charge.
It would be interesting to see the date on the side of the tire. Once I changed to M/T vs a A/T I never considered going back to a A/T . The tread pattern makes a big difference . I run the KM3 M /T on my 200 Series.
