I highly recommend getting a multimeter. It does not have to be a high-end Fluke. The Harbor Freight unit on the right has worked perfectly for years. They used to be free, now they are less than $10.00...
You need to upgrade more than the brake pads. At the very least ,upgrade the pads and rotors. A simple Internet search will reveal all sorts of upgrades.
This is a nice compact boo-boo kit with bag. I also have a tourniquet, EMT shears, small roll of 100mph tape and a field dressing.
It is easy to get carried away with building a kit with too much stuff.

The brakes are side specific . Left and right. the wires going to the front shows the brakes are installed on the wrong side.
There are two easy ways to determine if your brakes were installed on the wrong side.
The electric wires should be exiting the assembly to the rear.
