mount it to rack, run ground strap internally to the roof if they are isolated.. aluminum makes a fine ground plane and you dont have to be attached directly too it.. my antenna is mounted to an isolated aluminum rack over an aluminum roof, I didnt do anything else and it has great coverage...
if you keep same rough OD as stock and downsize wheel from 19in car to 17 truck tires, this lets you bump up the PSI a bit the and any extra roll would be hardly noticeable.. 35psi w/flimsy sidewall all season passenger tires on 19's to 55psi heavy sidewall all terrains would make up for it...
Victrons have built in Balancing/Temp/Voltage control, but everything else is farmed out to an external BMS.. that way multiple batteries can be chained together off same BMS.. that BMS has Can bus IO that can be used for further control externally.. all that is open sourced, or you can buy...
I went with BB large part because I was in a rough spot and needed a battery fast, and could same as cash finance it through amazon.. now looking back I'd of spent a lil more and got a Victron since I otherwise bought fully into their ecosystem (disconnects/inverter/solar/monitor).. id have me a...
Well clearly you can make it to fit whatever footprint you wish, and you'd have access to each cell and series of cells, you can in theory anyway keep a closer eye on things and thus perhaps be able to provide them a better life .. but, as you already know.. that might not be worth alot if one...
Whats the capacity of the lift? that's the determining factor..
My shop I'm planning on building is getting 6in floors, and an ultrawide 2 post lift my trailer can pull through.. IIRC it was 6ton
my last setup was a 4x8 trailer, I moved my fridge all the time to put it in the shade or bear lockers.. really not that much more cumbersome than a large cooler, once you subtract all the water ice in the cooler its not that much heavier, like a big cooler if you got two people its not that...
> The freezer causing a signifcant increase in your "energy bill". What is that based on? / If you run the whole thing as fridge is this still true?
Physics, the colder something is the more energy you've transferred out of it.. the difference between 30F and 5F is quite big on a battery...
Yeah I'm not talking about overall weight, but its up high.. I could feel my CG change w/spare tire on my roof.. especially on trails, and I think a couple sheets of plywood would be quite a bit more than that.. if you're just getting shade out of it primarily dont seem like an equivalent...
no I've got a much bigger Lithium setup thats all hardwired.. none of what I did would be applicable to you.. but you can get a crimper that will do andersons fine at harbor freight and make your own cables easy enough.. MC4 are not really made for repeated connect/disconnects.. they are connect...
I just covered my panel up with a big piece of cardboard and a blanket, then cut the MC4 off, crimped on Andersons directly to the panel and gave it a shrink wrap boot.. then got a spool of wire with andersons every ~30ft so I just pull out as much as I need.
mebe a little plywood towards the rear if you wanted a standing platform.. but if you did the whole thing it'd be rather heavy and create alot of drag for little gain.. you could take a tarp/canvas and make a vehicle shade you can deploy at your discretion.. maybe an awning, especially if you do...
My camper came with a dometic about that size, used it twice and then gave it away, hardly kept food cold, ran constantly and required enormous amounts of energy.. bought an Engel and could not been happier.. looking at specs that CFX-50 is basically the same, just a lil fancier and more...
http://www.madebyjoe.net/ lil bit of both, you can use the app all alone w/just yer phone.. but that wont help you from within your truck as it'd have to be sitting on the floor of the trailer.
I keep my fridge right at freezing, there aint nothing I cant put in frozen that will go bad before it gets eaten, if you put frozen items in insulated bags the'll stay frozen for a good while.. the only things I see the need for freezing are Ice Cream and Ice.. Ice Cream is not that important...
712 model is what I have, it uses a mosfet instead of a relay internally so its draw is miniscule.. via bluetooth it feeds my Victron SmartSolar and provides at the battery post voltage and temperature data to the solar charger.. it measures all load going into or out of your battery and does a...
IMHO a system wide LVD is more useful/reliable than per-appliance LVD.. first of all it will do its job and protect battery from EVERYTHING, including dumb little devices like phone chargers and stuff that can be quite parasitic over time.. I purposefully bought a fridge w/out an LVD this time...
