Good info. Yeah, @eaneumann made a really good and interesting post here, there are a ton of variables and he did a good job with pics and describing issues, then came up with anlot of smart options to improve handling in future. He really has me thinking. In retrospect, I have had decently...

DC-DC charger as an alternative to generator?

I would say that most folks who are running a 2nd battery i.e. "House battery" system for overlanding, DO indeed run a dc to dc charger from their alternator. Back 15 years ago, folks used a solenoid battery isolator to separate their start battery from house system, but with the virtually 100%...

DC-DC charger as an alternative to generator?

I'm gonna say misinformation here. I subscribe to Clark's channel and watched all his vids. He is a boat guy. First, His video is all centered around small, weak alternators on boat engines, that ABSOLUTELY HAVE to keep working. With large electrical loads. NOT on a standard truck trying to...

That guy is a good dude, and he has what I believe is the best single blog/site for truck camping info. Tons of real world reviews with ACTUAL USE, not just unboxing, good design info, etc. He is also almost zero monetization, by which mean he isn't marketing and pushing, just good writeups...

    Jack suggestions and recommendations

Why jack the axle? Its the lowest point and forced you to dig a hole. No owner's manual I have ever seen ACTUALLY RECOMMENDED using the axle, always a jack point on body. Or frame, or knuckle. Then you could have jack exposed , no hole dug. Axle also tippiest jack point, bad for soft base...

DC-DC charger as an alternative to generator?

Yes, you can use an inverter to boost voltage up, to let you transport power in small wires, to point of use. There are efficiency losses. They add up. They may still be acceptable vs cost of other equip, if your alternator is huge like you have. Here is my 400W tacoma inverter, from my 130A...

Puck light link pls ;) I also love a "soft white" light that dims, AND HAS A RED SETTING. The classic Alu-Cab lights. I find the harsh white of Natural White or even blue white, is terrible at night. It is so hard to find a good size LED that has soft white about 3500k color, dimmable, and a...

Just bought my first Pop-Up Truck Camper and have some questions.

Here, I think this rough Energy Audit for truck popup camping might be a good start to help! I posted it this week. https://forum.expeditionportal.com/threads/power-required-truck-car-camping.246589/

    Power Required, Truck/Car camping

To determine what size powerstation or 2nd battery system you need for your camping or overlanding, the first thing required is to do an "energy audit" to figure out daily use, for both peak dc watts, 120Vac watts, and total Watt-hrs used for battery sizing. How you will recharge will determine...

Meh... still not actually correct. The pipe itself must be angled down with no upslope. The muffler having a weep hole is immaterial. These are all clones of the Eberspacher diesel, and THEY pysh dealer installs because how often people mess it up. They have a 98 page install manual you can...

There are 2 guys on Tune forum also that installed Dickinson 9000, then removed it for a diesel when they found it couldn't keep up for ski season use.

    Dickinson P9000 or P12000--reviews?

I have many reports of people saying dickinson can't keep up, and ending up with $150 chinese diesel and ripping out their $3000 dickinson. I dont want to search up links, but at least 3 good reliable posters. Ok here are some good posts https://www.tacomaworld.com/posts/29396030/...

This is a great report. Solid info. I've been thinking about mounting my combustor in that little cubby on passenger side of tacoma bed, moving it from inside bed near front wall. It would draw from outside then. Some guy makes an expensive mounting plate that replaces the whole 120v plug...

I run the combustion chamber inside the camper, same way they are mounted in a zillion trucks. I had an all in one... however, I have separated the diesel tank and moved it outside. Despite checking and tightening all hoses, I have had 2 leaks that staaaank up the truck. Had to wash and scrub...
