Run some cider vinegar through the water cans before use. This usually kills the plastic taste. I keep water in my MWC's for a few months at a time without issue.

I've been considering building my own using sail track for mounting to the rack and then sewing sail bolt rope to some sunbrella or shade sail material and reinforcing the corners for some grommets and poles. Seems like it would be pretty simple.

My FrontRunner rack on my FJ62 did not come with rubber for the feet, however I have a sheet of thin neoprene I'm going to cut custom rubber boots from.
