I've used the Wedco water jerry cans and the scepter water jerry cans and been happy with both. Switched to the scepters because I was tired of the steel scepters beating up everything they got next to.
Post above is correct. All kinds of fittings from your local home despot that you can use...
There are films out there that off high heat rejection and high transparency. 3M makes the stuff I put on my FJ62 and has helped that glass house remain a bit cooler. You don't necessarily need dark windows to keep the vehicle cool.
Ignorant question... Is there any potential for damage if you were to short the wire, blow the fuse, but the panel were still grounded due to the short? At that point you're pumping the panels full output direct to ground... I can't imagine that would be good for the battery over time.
It might be cheaper to buy new. When I called around I was quoted $4k to $8k for a rebuild. Ridiculous. If I assume $200/hr labor rates thats 5 to 10 days.

I have, and have used, the pre-CARB NATO metal and plastic Scepter cans for both water and fuel. I just converted to the plastic Scepter cans. There isn't much difference between my metal and plastic cans in practical usage. They both seal well, they're both quite durable, they're both quite...
In my experience its the wind rather than the temps that gets you. We have a first gen Eezi-Awn and have had it out for numerous nights in the desert. The RTT is built by folks in warm climates to keep the rain off you and to ventilate to moderate the interior temp and humidity. They are...
How do you like the lights? They make a replacement set of LED headlights fot my FJ62 but at $400/ea and under 1,000 lumens they are super spendy.

A second vote for these. The zippers are crap, and wax only solves so much, but they hold up well. I have three. One with chains, one with recovery gear, and one as a stay-in-the-car tool bag. Theyre all about four years old. A little faded but no problems. Heaviest is about 40lbs. $9.99...
Had I the time for another project, finishing this would be a lot of fun. I hear ya about the decisions we make in our youth.
The buys will be getting a nice deal on this. $6k feels too low. GLWS.

I would avoid linking the two pipes. It would allow the water to build inertia, flow from high-side to low-side, and possibly upset the balance of your vehicle at an inopportune time. I might also baffle the pipes to slow/prevent sloshing action for similar reasons.
Sounds like REI is taking a page from Walmart's corporate handbook. Disappointing. I guess Bass Pro for selection and Costco for price now. I would go to Adventure 16 but I havent seen one around in years.

Good lookin rig. Additional pics (interior, undercarriage, engine compartment) might help you sell.
Also, do you know the history - how did the vehicle get into the States?

My 89 FJ62 has a confounded Magnaflow. The thing drones in the power band and sets off harmonic vibrations at various RPMs. Drives me insane. I get that the PO probably had to replace the exhaust at some point, I just wish they would have selected something quiet.
'89 FJ 62 owner here. It is my DD (I dont drive often as I take the train) and being grokmed as the family camping wagon. Im just going to echo what has been said.
- if you buy a 60, just plan on replacing the front seats and console. Youll be way more comfy.
- there is little power in the...
I treat boon-dock camping in bear country the same way I treat it when I backpack - the stove, food, and all utensils and dishes are placed AWAY from camp. I would much rather the bear find my Engle fridge 50' away from my camp than in my camp. I would also much rather the bear find JUST my...
