    2014 G550 Build/Mods

So you don't have any rubbing even at full articulation with the 33's? How about ESP issues?

    2017 G550 - Tire Options

Great write up. Thank you. It seems that a 31.8" ~32" tire is totally safe to use then these 2017 models without any side effects. The 275-55-20 should actually be a solid 32 but I've noticed that the BFG run a little small....actually only 31.8"...which might be perfect. Overall it's a...

    2017 G550 - Tire Options

Any issues with ESP with the 32" size on the 2017? Where you able to get the software changed over? Can you detail what they did?

    Is 2017 the last W463?

IFS?!?!?! Man I didn't hear about that from the spy articles... That's a deal breaker. Before I got my G550 all I read about was how bad they are on road but in my opinion it's actually quite good. Of course I'm coming from an AEV JK350 and a D110 NAS before that. Hopefully someone more in...

    Is 2017 the last W463?

I have to admit that the reason I waited almost a year for the 2017 over the 2016 was because of the rumored 2018 update on the G-Wagen. From the spy shots, it's clearly getting softened up, widened, lowered, etc... This is all likely due to emission standards, pedestrian impact, cost, etc...

    2017 G550 - Tire Options

Looks super good. So no issues with ESP or rubbing on stock suspension? Have you put a tape measure on these to see if they are really 31.9"? I have seen BFG be a little under advertised. Either way this is a solid option for G63s.

    2017 G550 - Tire Options

Alright good news...the spare tire cover does fit, albeit tightly, over a fully inflated (40psi) 265/65 R18 BFG AT KOs tire.

You might check out the soft cover that is used on the military G's. I've heard they are larger.

That's cool. What did you do with the spare tire cover? Also what year is your G?

    2017 G550 - Tire Options

Okay so I wasn't super pleased with the way the tire was filling the the wheel well. So after reading at nausea about ESP and rubbing side effects I settled on 265/65 R18 (overall 31.6") as the perfect safe size. I did lots of drive testing today and could not get the ESP issue to show it...

    2017 G550 - Tire Options

So I finally took delivery of the '17 G550. It's amazing...no remorse leaving the AEV JK. As you can see I removed the front brush guard and installed the Euro-Spec blanking plates which I had painted in matching body color. I also changed from the 19" stock rims to the 18" split 5 spoke...

Do you get any rubbing at full turn or full articulation with 32" and stock suspension? Any traction light or ESP issues due to the larger tires? Thanks!

I'd be surprised if Mercedes lifted a G Class for a corporate sponsored adventure trip. Maybe I'm wrong though. Does it look lifted to you?

    2017 G550 - Tire Options

So I have ordered a 2017 G550 which will arrive in October. I'm looking to install BFGoodrich ATs but am having trouble figuring out the right rim and tire combination. I have read issues of larger then stock diameter causing issues with ESP and even rubbing at full articulation. It seems...

2014 JKUR AEV Build - Billet Silver

Yes a while ago. Copley sold it for me. They did a great job. It was a great truck but I have to say...I'm glad I don't have a Defender anymore. Onwards to the G Wagon project now.
