I have the Dynatrac kit on my superduty that not only allows for proper manual hubs, but also gets rid of the unit bearings in favor of traditional serviceable taper bearings. Not cheap, but worth every penny. Its good stuff.
Depends on your lifestyle, for sure. Most just hunker down for winter months. Weirdos like my wife and I wind up using the camper more in the winter than summer. ?
Cole is just about a year and a half old now, and 83# (y)
Managed to snap a few decent shots of Cole the PlottHound on our latest trip back to our old stomping grounds in CA to visit family.
We have family in both LonePine and the AlabamaHills.

It likely wont be gas, diesel, or electric for OverTheRoad trucking
OTR Trucking going hydrogen fuel cell combustion isn't that far in the future. Energy dense, fast refueling, and clean.
I hear ya on the (air) filter changes.
This is after just 4,000 miles of 60/40 (hwy/off pavement) in our 6.2 Superduty
And we never travel with or follow close behind a dusty vehicle. Just unreal.
So I don't know why or even how, but I'm doing a filter shake/blow-out at 2k and changing at 4k...
The fact that MFGs or Dealers are actually placing a payload placard on a truck is a simple example of how wild things have become.
Payload is a VERY simple number. Its max GVWR minus curb weight. Nothing more, nothing less.
But instead, the MFG places some silly payload rating on it. When...
And a couple of the weld in bushing setup, and the rear pivot assembly as an example.
As I recall these were sold as link bushings. Complete with zerk fittings, they worked as intended.
As I recall, the ones I used allow the use 9/16 fine thread grade-8 bolts...
And some 3-point torsion free pivot subframe pics, which involved adding 24" of frame to the rear of the chassis, and integrating the rear pivot into the chassis
I'm curious, is anyone using a wifi router/bridge on the road to manage wifi and data usage?
We use VERY little data, and are currently running a Solis-Lite as a "pre-paid" method of connecting when needed.
It works great, but the app is useless as far as wifi controls go. Occasionally we'd...
A few years ago we were hip deep in new house construction...
Needed a rear rack for long stuff, so that was fabbed up. 4 bolts hold it down.
And having on-site living that is easily removed from the truck is a huge bonus in many ways.
Load of doors, fixtures and appliances

And true to the nature of a proper flatbed, its all about utility...
And what I commonly refer to as the "old man steps" are awfully handy ;)
A few more shots...
certainly some hours wrapped up in it… though I didnt keep track. If I had to estimate, likely 50-60 or so for all labor, and another 6-10 just for concept, design, and materials selection.
