Man that tubing notcher is an freaking monster! Just spent the last few minutes mesmerized watching them chewing through steel. Reminds me how chinsy my cheap chinese holesaw notcher really is.
Nice shop, I am more than a little bit jealous of your wall of toolboxes full of supplies!
Couldn't have said it any better! I DD'd a POS Wrangler for close to 15 years, no A/C, no radio, no heat and I had the biggest smile every time I drove it!
I personally like plan #3
I have used raptor liner on top of plywood on a few projects now. The trick to adhesion is coating all the plywood with fiberglass resin first. Once the resin is down hit it really fast with some 80 grit and spray it on.
I have used Hurculiner before...........biggest mistake I ever made. The...
Looks like some great progress! I had originally planned on a platform like yours but we had to compromise for something better suited for daily driving/ people hauling. Still wish I had built a more dedicated set up like yours.
Love the welder too! I have burned probably a dozen or more ten...
I like the plan you have especially bringing the whole family along! I would strongly suggest you look into finding another 4x4 upfitter.......I live in the Salt Lake area and have never heard a good thing about advanced 4x4. In fact someone one on here just bought an advanced van and commented...
Love it! I was scratching my head yesterday with what to do with the wires in my van. Definitely be copying your idea!
Those things were the bane of my existence when i worked at a trailer repair shop. Those things are the cause of more electrical problems than they solve.
Why limit the your suspension travel? As long at the tires don't contact the bodywork, the springs don't compress into the negative and your not bottoming out your shocks travel is travel.:sombrero: I know Chevy designed their IFS suspension to ride on the bumpstops, but its a piss poor design...
Curious how bad the body roll you have currently. I have seen a few Express guys adding rear sway-bars. I went the other direction...........I tossed my front sway bar a few months ago and haven't regretted it for even a second! The front suspension acts more independently than it did with the...
It would seem to me that you could eliminate the side curtain airbags in the back. Cargo vans don't have them. It might just take a simple reflash of the BCM at the dealership, it might be hard to find one that will do it with seat still in the back of the van.
Cognito motorsports makes some with ball joints. I have mixed feelings about a bolt in ball joint though.
Those fleabay arms don't look all that bad! The price is pretty decent too.
Sounds like you have been plenty busy! The wife tells me I have to get my van done before summer.......its not...
I am in the same boat myself. Once the torsion bars were cranked to the droop stops there was absolutely zero caster on the front end once the camber and toe were close enough not to kill the tires. I lowered mine down to the 2-2.5" range and the front end felt much less unsettled on the...
There is really not a whole lot of "kits" out there for Chebby vans. But the good news is that they share nearly all the front end parts as a Silverado truck!
Weldtech Designs just started building a ton of different parts for our vans:

I think Quigley tries their hardest to use OE parts from Chevy in their conversion to keep factory warrenties intact and have nationwide parts availability. I am sure it matters lots to fleet managers but much to an enthusiast.
Torsion bars are fine, they get the job done. Coilovers have a...
Those look like some really nice springs! Nice thin looking leafs and lots of them so it outta have a good progressive rate. I do like the extra wrap on the main eye side and the single rebound clamp on the shackle side..........I need some rear springs stat. I will shoot you a PM for more info!
With enough sawsall they outta fit!
Have any pics of the rear suspension? With the long travel springs did you have to run longer shackles? I have a line on some lightly used f70's (used for mock-up and then pulled to go links), how do you think those would work?
Seriously nice craftsmanship! I really dig the "laminated" design of the spindle upright. I just hope the control arms I am designing turn out half as nice as your jigs.........
I probably could have gotten by with a lifted 2WD......but the wife found an AWD and told me to buy it! :sombrero:A...
