Should I just have them flip all tires on the rims? The outer edges of all of them are starting to wear more than the inner. They've been rotated several times since new, but I typically drive without the sway bar connected so the outer edge takes more abuse on turns and they are definitely...
All good advice guys, and those thoughts are similar to what I've been thinking the past few days. I'm going to try and get in for another road force balance and rotate this weekend, and will likely pull the rear driveshaft and have a driveline shop work on it.
Incidentally, I was curious to...
I did, didn't see anything abnormal....both rear wheels seem to be true. It's possible that the driver's axle is bent because the truck was in a sideswipe incident at some point with a previous owner. Minor dings and scrapes were on the driver's bedside. But my un-trained eye didn't see...
Well, the plot thickens. Never content to just run quietly and smoothly, my truck is still struggling with vibrations and such. However, now there is a new noise....a constant "squeaking" or "chirping" coming from the rear of the truck. I can hear once the truck hits 25 mph and it continues...
Good to know! I figured I probably shouldn't mess with it. Plus, if you remove the bracket that it is mounted, the wheel well is not flat there....lots of bumps and such, making mounting a compressor a real challenge. Easier just to make a bracket.
I'll bet it's the Hi-Lift making the noise. I recently mounted mine inside the bed of the truck and it is extremely solid, also with a handle keeper. The mechanism and foot rattle around like crazy though. Right now I'm experimenting with securing those parts with bungee cords. If you come...
Took some time today and got the ARB compressor installed. It was a bit of an experiment, but I think everything went together fairly well.
Project
ARB CKMA12 Compressor install
Purpose
Provide an air supply for the rear locker
Provide an air supply for airing up tires
Cost
$275
Time

Be sure to have them send some underframe pictures. Most ads (including those you posted) don't ever have underframe pictures. These Toyota's have a nasty habit of rusting quickly on the frame and associated components. Knowing what I know now, I would've made an underbody inspection a high...
Looking at the angles you were dealing with I wouldn't be able to do that with how my truck is set up now. I'm running on 33's, and I have a DC. My rear bumper would probably get the truck stuck right at the beginning. And I'm not sure how I'd do on that breakover angle at the end....the...
That's a nice truck. I like the color too. I have to say it's insane how expensive these 1st gens are in the Northwest. There wasn't anything 05-06 that was less than 14K when I was looking several years ago.
You're right unfortunately. No easy place to put a switch panel. If I do end up getting an SPOD, I'll still likely mount the switches spread out around the dash. I have two blanks on the overhead, two blanks to the left of the steering wheel, and two blanks above the center console tray. I...
Haven't tested it yet. Compressor gets here on Monday, I went with the ARB CKMA12. I'm not sure where I'm going to mount it yet or how that's going to happen. Once I have the actual compressor I will be able to physically try out different spots in the engine bay. I'm assuming that I'll need...
Same story here.....lots of new parts that I didn't really want to do, but probably needed to be done anyways. One thing I might do is have Costco throw on some new BFG KO2's....I guess they have a pretty good return policy. If they solve the problem, then great. The Duratrac's would then go...
Can't think of anyone I know around here that has a Tundra/Sequoia/Tacoma. I'm sure there's someone I know that has one of those vehicles, but nothing comes to mind at the moment. I'll do some digging.
I would tend to lean towards the Tundra, given that you almost have it paid off. Selling and getting another vehicle may land you in yet another car payment that takes longer to pay off. If it were me I would definitely put the dog in the bed of the truck, either with a topper or without (in a...
Yeah, I'll need to keep my eyes open. Not much around me right now, unless I want to pay $750. I just need something to swap, then turn around and sell them. I don't want to spend a lot because there is a chance that they won't sell afterwards.
Locker is in, along with all new Nitro rear diff bearings. The old ring and pinion were reused because I'm not regearing.....they said the backlash was a bit tight on it but that they set it back to what it was when it came out. Apparently someone had been inside the rear diff previously...
