    2020 EarthCruiser?

I just looked at dynatrac website. I couldn’t find any ref to GAWR but may have missed it. If this EC axle is some variant of the “prorock 80” they build for extreme jeeps, I wonder how they stretched out the axle to fit the Fuso and deal with possible offset change from original design. What...

    2020 EarthCruiser?

In that case, I imagine the factory Mitsu/Fuso spec doesn’t apply at all. I wonder if that means Earthcruisers have no engine/drivetrain factory warrantit’s or if they’ve done something similar to Earthroamer and kept warranties intact despite all the custom drivetrain/suspension components...

    2020 EarthCruiser?

Per the Fuso website, it looks like GAWR front and rear is 6390 lbs. It would be interesting to hear what owners are seeing on the scales when the travel fully loaded.

    2020 EarthCruiser?

I’d heard similar but don’t believe I was asking about diesel Fuso availability, perhaps you mean the Omega is now sold? That wouldn’t surprise me. You appear to know a lot about these rigs. Any chance you could answer any of my questions about the new gas models? Much appreciated: I think my...

Using the Alpacka Raft Kayak with our GXV Turtle

Sheri and Thor must be building some huge rafts these days to hold that Turtle... Just kidding. Alpacka’s are perfect for traveling and way more durable than most people think. Easily repairable with Tyvek tape. Klepper and Long Haul Folding kayaks are great too, though they’ll take up more...

    2020 EarthCruiser?

I think my questions rel to your 2020 Earthcruiser post above keep getting lost in the shuffle: Is fuel tank capacity likely to stay at 60 gallons or will/could there be a need for an auxiliary tank to increase range? What are the front/rear GAWR's and what sort of actual front and rear axle...

    2020 EarthCruiser?

Thought I'd bump this in case it was lost. Interested.

    2020 EarthCruiser?

I think you mentioned in an earlier post you didn't want to use an addt'l heater...I note this because as you finalize your design plan, realize it is a very simple thing to plug an Espar into the "loop" and I'm pretty sure no warranty impact. It'll run you about a grand or so and a...

    2020 EarthCruiser?

2cents: While it would be a doable retrofit after the fact, probably not as easy to do afterwards vs when you install the heater...if you're mid-build and esp. if it involves going through the camper hull, I'd consider at least installing+stubbing out two lengths of hose that you can hook up...

    2020 EarthCruiser?

Sounds perfect, couple of questions: is fuel tank capacity 60 gallons, what are the front/rear GAWR's and what sort of actual front and rear axle weights have you seen on a "loaded" (fuel, water, passengers) EXP, and finally, any idea what your avg mpg was at 78mph? I'm intrigued by the "Omega"...

    Country of Origin? Method wheels

Thanks. I was hoping this "new" wheel would be made somewhere else, no such luck.

    Country of Origin? Method wheels

Does anyone know what country Method wheels (such as the 704 Bead grip featured on this site) are manufactured in? Their website claims that Method "designs, develops and distributes" wheels, which points to foreign manufacturing.

    Diesel vs Gasoline

...always good but not really surprising to hear that sort of experience. Older vehicles, e.g. diesel and gas pickups, have their pros and cons but (in my opinion, not a groupthink advocation) I'd prefer to deal with the cons of older vehicles versus the cons of newer vehicles. I'd rather...

Ford Transit Cab Chassis with Composite Camper

Vic, any idea how much weight you will have on the rear axle when topped off with fuel and water? Will the truck need any modifications to suspension?

    Diesel vs Gasoline

No. To clarify, you will of course find shops and mechanics who will tell you that a 6.4 needs the cab removed, but this is a preference (or capability/experience limitation), not a requirement. Any maintenance/replacement task on an 08-10 super duty with the 6.4 can be accomplished without cab...

    Diesel vs Gasoline

That is inaccurate. Ford diesels do not require cab removal for maintenance....it just makes things a lot easier i.e. less expensive and time consuming.

    SOLD. 2007 EarthRoamer XV-LT #58 - Bulletproofed 6.0 - 62.5k miles -$175,000

Nice looking rig. Please note 2008-2010 6.4 diesel Ford F550's don't use DEF. 2011 was the first year for DEF in the Powerstrokes.

Total Composites Camper on Mitsubishi Fuso FG walk through

+1 Quite a decent-looking DIY rig but probably a good idea to move the post elsewhere, particularly if comments/observations from actual bespoke exped camper mfrs are not wanted.

Recommendations on heaters and how to install.

I would consider an Espar Airtronic D2, in diesel, though they make gas models as well. It might be simpler to set up a external diesel tank on an rack vs tapping into your trucks tank if you're in a Tacoma (plus there's no danger you will run your main vehicle tank dry if you accidentally leave...

    Camper for the Cold

I realize this likely does not answer your question but an espar airtronic is very fuel efficient and can be left on for long periods of time, I would not be surprised if, depending on the size of your camper, a single airtronic could keep your rig very dry and warm in subzero temperatures...
