I like the first gens. This is my third one. They are all that I have owned since 2001. This one has been kinda funky with some odd problems that the other two never had. I am not happy with the extended cab set up either; especially now that I have a serious girlfriend that takes up even more...
Kinda stuck. I need more room than my current extended cab tacoma has. Figured I need a double cab. When I first bought my current truck I wanted to buy a first gen double cab but the auto transmission turned me off. Girlfriend/future wife will not drive a manual despite my best efforts to teach...
Might have missed it some where but did you get rid of your 4Runner? Almost bought one because of your build.
Thinking hard about selling my 1st gen extended cab Tacoma and getting a newer 4 door Tacoma. Need more room and want my bed back so no topper. Storage behind the seat in the extended...
My current set up.....
3/4 inch plywood 3/4 the way across the truck. Part of the design was around the Tupperware bins. 6 will fit in the center 2 slots perfectly. Works good but I am going to redesign it. I don't need 6 bins and I want to cut down the floor some. New goal is to go all way...
Bought these to use as street tires to drive back and forth to see girlfriend in Florida. Didn't like the stance, the extra cost of 16" tire prices over 15", and the girlfriend now lives with me in NW Georgia.
Wheels were sanded, primed 3x, coated with graphite paint 3x and wet sanded between...
My soon to be adventure toy. Husaberg fe570s. Only have two rides and a harescramble on it so far in the 3 months that I have owned it. Need to stop working so much! Seat is currently in Cali getting some butt cushioning. Need to add a GPS, brighter headlight, and a giant loop bag. Got to decide...
Free bump for you Daniel. Hate to hear that you are selling it. If I hadn't just bought that Husaberg then I would be all over this. Buying another bike? GLWS.
Because of you Pratty I started reading up on vans as soon as I got home today and stumbled across this thread! Funny how that worked out.
I am Joe, the tall Marine from the rally.
My mind was racing with ideas for a van all the way home. After spending years of reading up on stuff for my...
Jonesw3,
Nice work!
Can you post a close up pic of your feet/ towers that you made to attach the rack? I need an idea to attach a homemade ATV ramp rack to my ARE shell. Thanks.
Nice build!
Got any more pictures of the swing carrier? Did you add it on or get a shop to do it? Have the same bumper and a camper shell and would like to add a swing out carrier.
*re-read and $12k may be a little high. I would not take a penny below $9k though. I never actively tried to sell my old truck. It sat beside my house on a small, country road covered in pine straw and pollen for several months while I tried to find a one piece drive shaft to go back in it...
Definitely sell all of your add ons separately. It may be more of a pain, especially if you don't have the factory pieces but you could sell the bumper, winch, lights and for $1500 or more. They will not help the value of the truck and as already mentioned may hurt the resale due to being...
I am pretty new here too but had to say sorry about your experience with Alcan. They seems like legit folks from everything I have read. Mistakes and misunderstandings\miscommunication happen. Sucks you got the short end of the stick.
I did enjoy reading your blog and book marked it for the...
I bought a "memory foam" mattress topper and an egg crate mattress topper from Wal-mart. I believe the egg crate was 10 bucks or so for a queen and the fake memory foam was $35. It was pretty good but I think I would just buy 3 of the $10 dollar ones next time and stack them for a nice $30...
If it makes you feel any better my trip out to Utah and Arizona is currently being delayed because of this friggin ARB bumper install! Between a crappy drill, then crappy bits in a good drill, then good bits in a good drill, the vertical bolt hole is not my friend. It took me a day and calling...
Great builds gentlemen! Trying to decide between the atv ramp rack and EMT conduit rack right now.
I have seen a lot of folks using homemade gutter mounts but I am not seeing many set ups for factory racks. I just bought a used A.R.E. shell for my Tacoma that has rails/tracks for Yakima...
I like both generations of tacomas but went with a 1st gen because of price. I am 6'6" 240lbs and I do not find the 1st gen to be cramped. I have also owned small toyota trucks so I have never got used to tons of rooms. Try them both out before you buy them.
