Does anyone know if the SOHC 3.5, DOHC 3.5, and 3.0 exhaust manifold is interchangeable? Any differences in years or if it's a sport or not? I have a 97 SR with a SOHC 3.5, there's a 95 LS with a 3.0 at the junkyard, should the manifolds swap over?

Just a little psa, the shorter 3.0 oil cooler lines will work on the SOHC 3.5 if you don't mind moving your oil cooler over a bit. I was in a pinch, couldn't wait 2 weeks to get the proper replacement oil lines and pay almost $200, also local businesses are closed. Got a set of 3.0 oil cooler...

Even better if you get it for $5-10 at a yard. I might give it a shot.

Has anyone tried installing the oem Land Rover Discovery overhead console in their Montero? I saw one at the junkyard the other day, and it had lots of useful pockets and got me thinking, but there weren't any Monteros at the yard to test it out on...

I just prefer to use direct fitment parts when I can, makes it easier. If the only real option is a hose repair shop, I'm fine with that (y)

I'll have look into that, althought I don't live in a big city. Do you know if it's difficult to use oil cooler line kits to make your own? Since the montero uses a banjo bolt with pressed fitting, it seems like it wouldn't work well, not sure how much pressure is in these particular lines though.

Where's a good source for oil cooler lines? One of mine is leaking and it doesn't look like rockauto or local parts stores have any. Ebay has some, but shipping from china, and don't look quite right.

Awesome, I would probably just go for the non-mivec for simplicity. Do I need to use the 3.5 intake manifold, sensors, etc or can I use the 3.8 components? When you say use the stock injectors, do you mean the stock 3.8 or the stock 3.5 injectors? Thanks!

My engine is over 220k miles now and I've been thinking about swapping it lately. I read somewhere that the 1997 Montero has unique wiring which makes it better for different swap options. Is there any truth to this, and if so which engines are fairly direct swaps? Thanks!

My window regulator/motor started acting up yesterday, it would go down fine, but not back up. I went to the junkyard today and pulled the whole motor/track/cable system out of a 96 LS (mine is a 97 SR) and swapped it over. The new one when rolled all the way up leaves about a 1" gap of open...

Thanks for the info. I think you're right about the lower connection, if definitely looks like some parts need to be removed to get to it. I'll try trimming a bit off up top and moving it back off that metal elbow , since it's at a weird angle.

I noticed some coolant dripping off a small coolant hose on the coolant flange that looks like it runs down to the lower intake manifold. I would like to get a replacement, but can't seem to find the part in the FSM or online. Does anyone who what this hose is called or have a part number...

Just for reference if anyone else searches this topic, loosening the top 2 bolts on the steering box and taking off the lower 2 allows enough room to fit the puller tool. Bad news for me was the other side was stuck where it bolts to the tie rod and center link. Pickle fork and 4lb sledge...

Ahh gotcha. I must be stupid or something because this puller doesn't fit either, it's much too large to fit between the pitman and the frame to close the jaws. Do you have to turn the wheels full lock to get the pitman arm pointing a different direction? I thought you were supposed to keep the...

I was able to get this exact one from an autozone today, just had to drive about an hour out of the way. Do you know what the bit on the chain is for? I can't see any use for it.

I looked at those as well, but don't have any locally, so it would be a guessing game which might fit. I was looking at a OTC 8149 and 8150.
