Each fan is wired to it's own fused power. 2x 12" covered more area than a single 16" or 20" like some people do. I'm open to suggestions if you have any.
It overheated with the OEM fan before I installed the electric fans. I don't know how much air the stock clutch fan moves, but I'm pretty sure dual 1730cfm fans pull more. I will try installing the fan shroud though, I'm almost out of ideas.
My Gen2 is still overheating when driving slowly up hills. It won't overheat on the highways or going uphill at highway speeds, just low speeds (0-10mph). It can sit stationary for any amount of time and not overheat either, only on slow incline. I've replaced basically every cooling component...
I've got an MV50 hard wired in my Montero, I've used it about 5 times in the last month. Just this week my BMW had a flat, so I pumped it up and took it in to get a nail extracted. Some family visited and they ended up with a flat, so I pumped it up so they could get some fix a flat it in. Just...
That thing is a beauty, I'm sure you'll be happy with it. There should be lots to read up on in the Toyota section, wheels and tires at the top of the list.:smiley_drive:
Thanks for the heads up, maybe they changed the design because it clears the AC pulley just fine. The elbow length measures the same as my OEM radiator, so I figured it'd fit the same. Also, my OEM hose clamps worked fine on new Gates upper hose and Dayco lower hose. So far it's fit exactly as...
Nice! It's be hard to beat a low mileage lexus/toyota, hope you get it man. Remember, the timing belt interval on those 2UZ-FE's is 90k, so if it's around there, factor in that cost.
I've seen a few people interested in the details of the CSF radiators. Mine arrived today so I snapped a few pics before I install it. It's a CSF 3050 2-row all metal radiator, advertised as compatible with 94-99 monteros, price was $255 on ebay.
Fair enough, I was sort of in the same situation when I was looking for an offroad vehicle. I have a newer BMW 550i m-sport and almost bought a 2008 4runner as a 2nd vehicle, but realized I'd rather have something that I didn't mind scratching, denting, so I bought an older 97 Montero. You...
I'm not trying to scare you away from a Montero, they are great vehicles. Have you looked into something like a Honda Element though? They are comfortable, very reliable, good fuel mileage, large cargo area, the EX has realtime 4wd, will work fine in snow and basic backroads since you're not...
It was dented and bent, chopped the brush guard off of it and mounted it to the frame rails. I can't find an ARB bumper anywhere, so it stays this way.
I installed my snorkel, it was a whole day event. I did a ton of measuring, drilling, filing and hammering though, took me about 8 hours.:Wow1:

From what I've seen, there's not really anything over the alternator to leak down onto it, especially with the timing gear guards on. I'd start with the basic stuff like cleaning the battery terminal contacts, checking grounds, checking alternator belt, testing the alternator and battery.
