Anyone used Silla or Spectra radiators?

I ordered a Silla radiator for my 97 SR after the CSF I had just bought got a leak. I went to mount it and the passenger side mounting holes wouldn't line up, I noticed the bottom tank was hitting my trans hardlines, and the lower pass side of the radiator was hitting my frame rail. I contacted...

    Parts Crisis for Mitsubishis

This happened a few years ago with Saab. I remember one case where a guy had a 2 year old Saab 9-3 and couldn't locate an axle for it anywhere in the united states, kinda scary.

    Expedition Overland - 2015 Season

Best part of the episode (if I heard it correctly), "You'll get me passport. Uno momento, I'll punch your throat."

Gen2 overheating when driving slow hills

I agree, but I'm hoping running generic fans with no shroud was causing the heat issues. I ordered a Volvo fan and shroud, so hopefully that'll fix it and replacing the AC will help. If I still have issues I'll go back to stock clutch fan. If it persists, I'll be looking into tearing the engine...

Gen2 overheating when driving slow hills

I flushed the system about 5 times before putting in the new radiator and added fresh 50/50 coolant. I think the problem may have been a bad AC condenser fan that I just found thanks to advice from fellas on here.

Gen2 overheating when driving slow hills

I tested the condenser fan and it's bad, won't spin up at all. I have a 12" electric fan I'll be replacing it with, I really hope this was the problem all along.

Gen2 overheating when driving slow hills

I suppose I can just leave it hanging there then, thought it was something important.

Gen2 overheating when driving slow hills

Thanks for the heads up. The positive wire had a little corrosion on it once I removed the black sealant material. I took a wire brush to it and knocked the corrosion off, the wire is still tight in it's seat. I did find this wire just hanging by the dehydrator though, I couldn't see it until I...

Gen2 overheating when driving slow hills

The OEM montero clutches are Hayden brand? I sent a PM to Toasty a few days ago and he said never ever buy an aftermarket fan clutch.

Gen2 overheating when driving slow hills

No, I haven't tested for that, it's entirely possible though. For some reason the radiator is still holding pressure and not venting it to the overflow. It sat for 24 hours and I just opened the cap and it spit coolant everywhere. It did this with a brand new cap, and just did it with my old...

Gen2 overheating when driving slow hills

The condenser fan is spinning, but not particularly fast. I was thinking about wiring it to ignition on so it's always going.

    Lifting on a budget.

Which montero sports use coil springs? The one's I've seen were leaf, did they change certain years?

Gen 2.5: Solid Timing Belt Tensioner?

I'd never thought of that for monteros, but that seems like a good idea. I know this is belt, not chain, but I used to always switch to manual timing chain tensioners like that on my motorcycles. The OEM ones were sort of crap and let the chain have too much slack and you can actually hear them...

Gen2 overheating when driving slow hills

The AC is usually on, a few times it has gotten hot and I cranked the heater up, but that didn't seem to drop the temp. I ordered the Volvo 960 fan/shroud lastnight and the 2-speed relay, we will see. I don't have any Mitsubishi dealers near me and I couldn't find an OEM fan clutch on ebay. $196...

Gen2 overheating when driving slow hills

I think you guys are right about the electric fans not being quite enough to keep it cool at slow speeds, but I also believe the stock clutch fan is also too weak. Keep in mind, it did overheat before and after I did a coolant flush while still on the stock fan. I'm going to try the higher cfm...

Gen2 overheating when driving slow hills

I'm not saying the clutch fan is insufficient in all cases, mine in particular, I'd rather have an electric fan. As someone a few pages back said, he has 2 monteros that both overheat going uphill, all monteros are not created equally I guess. I may try putting my clutch fan and shroud back on...

Gen2 overheating when driving slow hills

Thanks, I've been looking into mounting a Volvo electric fan with shroud, they're supposed to be the same as the taurus fans that lots of guys use on V8's. I don't want to use the stock clutch fan because of the weak flow at low speed low rpm crawl. I don't want to shift into 4low just to keep...

98 Gen 2.5, putting in Park on a steep slope. Truck not happy.,

I can't comment on the noise, but when I park on steep incline, I set the parking brake before I put it in P to ease the stress on the drive components.
