    Montero SR Oil Pan Leaking

I was under my Montero today replacing some belts and tensioner pulleys and noticed quite a bit of oil leaking. It looks like the oil is coming from the oil pan seal and/or the front main seal. The front axle appears to be very close to the oil pan and looks like the pan can't be removed without...

Two! 1982 Diesel Land Cruisers in Sandpoint ID

They're different vehicles, says so right in the ad. The plates are also different, one ends in 634, the other in 235.

    Alaska Overland Show

I watched quite a few episodes, but didn't like it very much. It came across as pretty trashy and I got the impression that 2 or 3 of the people were on drugs or were ex-junkies. A bit annoying to watch someone fidgeting, shaking, and chain smoking, trying to maneuver a truck through axle deep mud.

    New (to me) Samurai

Looks good! A nice trick to use is buy a cheap deck of playing cards for masking wheels. They're thin enough that they fit in very well, but stiff enough to jam in tightly between the wheel/tire. Also if you set them out to dry after you're done, they can be reused many times.

    West Africa - 2007/2008

These are great photos, especially for being from 2007, very cool to see. Have you watched the movie Blood Diamond? It takes place in all the locations you mentioned: Conakry, Guinea, Freetown, and I think some Monrovia as well.

    2009 Honda Fit expotastic build

I get where you're coming from, I'm not trying to talk badly about the car, just letting you know my experience with it. I'm the one who actually pushed her to buy the car because I liked them so much overall (for what she needs). If I had a 1000 mile road trip I'd still take the fit over my...

    2009 Honda Fit expotastic build

I recently drove my girlfriend's 2010 fit sport up a very easy gravel road, it was pretty punishing and a rock weakened one of the tires and formed a softball sized bubble, which had to be replaced. This was a trail I would rate a 1/10 difficulty, literally a dirt/gravel road up to a popular...

Extended Brake lines with 2" coil spacers

I bought the new brake line, but the ends on my old line were so rusty I was risking stripping or breaking the hardline connected to it, so I just disconnected the one side I could get loose and dropped the axle, then reconnected the end when I put everything back together and bled the brake...

    Valve seal replacement

How much do you guys reckon a shop would charge for this job? I've done every repair on the montero myself, but this is one job I would rather not do.

Other reasons for P0400 EGR Code?

I actually cleaned the whole throttle body about a month ago when I was cleaning the IACV. I had it on a bench and got it spotless with carb cleaner and cotton swabs, so I don't see that being the problem. I'll have to check the manifold differential pressure sensor mentioned in TheMole's post...

Other reasons for P0400 EGR Code?

I just checked and none of the lines coming off my egr solenoid have brass regulators or anything in or connected to them. I blew air through both and there are no obstructions. Some of the vac lines related to my egr are newer, so it's possible it used to have the brass bit you're referencing...

Other reasons for P0400 EGR Code?

I've had the P0400 code since I bought my Montero, the previous owner replaced the EGR valve and EGR solenoid but it didn't clear the code. I replaced the EGR vacuum control valve and checked for vacuum leaks, but the code was still there. Once I cleared the code with a scanner, it would come...
