All manufactures are fighting to show the lowest cost of ownership. They have convinced themselves that this sells cars/trucks. What it does in reality is kill the reliability. Lifetime fluid and 10k service intervals are a joke. Even ZF will tell you that trans fluid lasts 60k at best. American...
Lifetime fluid is a scam. Who's life? Ford warranty or the customers pocketbook. PTU's beat the heck out of fluid, its a Volvo unit. Its probably on the way out if it was that dirty.
I would never go past 5k. Manufactures are just playing games with cost of ownership, and its at the expense of the owner. We see so much wear related damage, its sad. Just ask a competent engine tech, he will give you the real answer. Cam Phasers, timing chain issues, tensioner issues...
Exactly. They sell little 2-3 watt heater pads that would just wrap around the filter, and I am sure the main tank heater could be used for the circuit.
I keep thinking about this. I think it would be super simple to tie into the tank circuit and have a tiny heated strip on the filter. I am going to use my S3 in pretty cold weather and really want zero issues.
They will fix the issues. Its just scary when you have so many that Jeep has no idea how to fix. Its a shame to be tearing down new vehicles throwing harness, control assy, and it does not fix the vehicle. I hate guessing.
