    Compressor vs. Power Tank ?

There is an aussie review of compressors on YT to include both the ARB HD and twin, the MV 50 and a couple VAIR compressors. All of them, even the MV50, were capable of reseating a bead. The ARB twin had a super fast refill time, under a minute for a 33 or 35 inch tire.

National Luna Intel. Solenoid/Controller opinion (Yay/Nay)

Hey all- I bought a truck that has the NL intelligent Solenoid and dual battery controller installed, with two Optima yellow top batteries. The system isn't working well and there are indications that it's the install and not the equipment. The computer board piece of the IS has a crack in the...

Introduction and question about a Land Cruiser

What are your plans for it? Figure for a roundabout number somewhere in the way of $2000 for baseline repairs, just getting it up to good mechanical shape, replacing all the aged things, oils, hoses, some wiring maybe, the main repair, depending on what it, is could be more. 60's are capable...

    Price check please

I would recommend asking the question on Ih8mud.com under the 40's section, or comparing prices in the classified. As noted, the value can be all over the place. The 40's like all early Toyotas are subject to rust, so if this near rust free/fully rust free, the value goes up quite a bit...

    Another locker question or help

Rethinking your post, I'd say yeah, if you have the switch on locked FF/RR and the fork/teeth are to the left when you reassemble, that should be correct. Again, just be sure you can hear the motor disengage and test it before driving.

    Another locker question or help

Left should be locked, but from my foggy memory, you need to move it to the right to unlock it, or so the actuator can unlock it. Could be wrong on that. As long as you can hear it engage, disengage, and steering is normal on pavement, then it's unlocked. When locked on pavement, you can hardly...

    Another locker question or help

Have you read thoroughly on Mud? I went through similar on my 80 and when I had put the actuator back in, the fork was to the left, so when I was in 4x4 (mine is part time now), the front was always locked and I had no steering. I pulled the actuator and used a screwdriver to move the fork to...

Looking at a 91 FJ80 this weekend, need advice

There are some significant changes from the FJ80 (91-92) to the 1st gen FZJ80 (93-94) and 2nd FZJ's (95-97). The 91-94 share most of the interior and dash layout. It was refined in 95. With the 1FZ-FE engine came full floating rear axles (where the FJ's had semi floating), rear disk brakes...

Sources for an HK delayed roller pistol? MP5, SP89, etc.

The MKE is very very nice. I've been shooting roller locks since the late 80's, and have had quite a few. The MKE is not a compromise. It is a solid, well made, built to HK spec firearm. Some aficionados complain about them and call them clones, but they are military grade weapons just as the...

LabRak FJ80 Rear Cargo Shelf Install/Review

How is the view in the rear view mirror? Does this block much of the back window?

    1983 toyota 4wd

There was a local guy a couple years ago selling a like new 82 or 83 for $4500. The interior was perfect, the bed had no rust. I just didn't have the money to buy it. The one in the link looks good. It's possible, but I wouldn't doodle with it without seeing it in person.

    New Engine Ideas - LX-450

The $20K quote came from two different reputable installers on the east coast. I'm sure the finished product looks like a factory install, but it's more than I'd put into the truck.

    Project LRDG - 1984 FJ60 Land Cruiser -

Ahhhh!! :wings: I thought my 22 case was an original. My son said I was such a redneck to stick a 22 case over the worn connector. Now I know it's Toyota tech. I also used some .308 case to repair the broken thread shafts in the steering column clamshell.

Do you feel the need to have a weapon when camping

Why do you presume it's fear at all? I've dealt with both threatening people and threatening animals. In some situations, leaving the area was the best response. In others, a firearm was the only choice.

Do you feel the need to have a weapon when camping

I'd put it like this. My 4Runner has 312,000 miles on it. It still has the original spare tire. It's never been out from under the truck, although I do check it for pressure on occasion. Should I just do away with it because I haven't needed it yet? I've used my firearm as a defensive tool more...

    New Engine Ideas - LX-450

I've had two quotes for pro installed vortec v8's and transmissions in my 80. You're looking at over $20K and a couple months of downtime. For me it's kind of hard to put that kind of dough in a $5-8K truck. You can supercharge it if you can find the TRD blower ($3-4K) or turbocharge it for...

    80 series question

My front is slower than my rear. If you pull the actuators off, you can hook up a fresh 9v battery to the power and run the motor back and forth and see the worm gear engaging/disengaging. Mine had some crusty old, dried up grease that was causing drag. I used a pick and some oil to loosen the...

From a van to a Cruiser. A (semi) quick inquiry.

My son (6'2", 205lbs) and I (6'3" 220) had slept in the back of my 80 several times. I don't have drawers, and we typically remove the rear seats for the extra inches. We usually pull almost everything out of the back and stick it up front (gun cases, storage boxes, cooler, etc.) or put it on...

Not enjoying my 80-Series; did I make the wrong choice?

On my 80 I had terrible death wobble. The whole truck would shake enough that you expected to see parts flying off of it. I rebuilt the front end, replaced all the tie rod ends, and that fixed about 80% of it, but it still had some shaking. Finally, the BFG AT's (315/75/16) wore enough to...

Not enjoying my 80-Series; did I make the wrong choice?

Try talking to the 4xOverland guy? Andrew St. Pierre White. Looks like he's in Lincolnshire area. I know he grew up on RR's, and has expo'd with 80's, 100's and RR's. He may be able to give you some insight on what to expect from both the 80 and the 100. As far as steering, adjustment of the...
