-Booked it & called for camping at Windrock. I'm still a bit confused about the camping situation ("absolutely no pop-ups in the tent area"), so they booked me into RV overflow/dry camping. They'll look at my setup when I get there.
Looks to be a FUN time!
Thanks for the revival & followup. I might have to get one of those. Looks like Solo sells a gauge to fit the 430-2G (amongst others), not sure if it would go on the tank or on the pump somewheres though.
Thanks for the update! Yeah, please post up if you end up finding more tricks in regards to deployement.
Good idea on nut/bolting the ball joint end to the bracket. That should spread the load out nice & even. I'll borrow that idea if I need to re-do mine.
As far as the top not going much...
Perhaps a silly question that's been already asked, but can one wrench be used for both fuel & water cans?
I'm interested, and will likely buy a fuel wrench (I'd like the gas can sealed up nice, but with little "stress" opening it when/if I need it).
It'd be handy if it could also be used for...
Yeah the one I use is heavy, but I could manage it by myself (before I did the draw setup). Now I just leave it in my truck most of the time. At camp it stays on the draw slide. Easy.
I would need help with that desk set, or a 2 wheeler etc.
I'd considered those pelican type field desks, but as others mention the weight put me off. They are very pricey as well. Would be great for a true expedition as a base camp setup though.
I use this medical chest (borrowed the idea from RoamingRobertsons). Which is pretty nifty I think as the...
Alternatively, you could bolt your awning directly to your camper. The previous owners of my Flippac had a Fiama clamshell awning direct-mounted using 2 bolts. I used those bolts to mount my cut aluminum angle/hinge brackets.
Take a look at how Subterran mounted up his awning to his camper. See post #22 of his build thread. He used aluminum angle cut to size mounted to the camper, onto that he bolted a 2 1/2" door hinge, the other side of the hinge bolts to the awning rail. To top it all off he figured out that a...
Yeah, I've tried looking as we'll without luck. I "think" it was one of the folks who ended up destroying the Flippac to use the top for another project/camper build. Bella's build comes to mind, but I've looked through that build again without luck. It also could have been the FP that SloSails...
Your welcome, also many thanks to timber/rhino and others!
As far as the 1/2" quick disconnects, they will be super stout.
If anything I wish that I had gone with smaller ones as the ball joint ends I used are too large to fit a standard grommet over. I would like to install 2 grommets onto...
Flippac torsion bar delete modification. My torsion bar is still functional, so this is more of a how-to-in progress...
Many thanks to other users, especially Rhino & Timber, much of this modification is simply copying them.
Here's some nice pictures of Timbers modification, see post #34...
Arclight: another couple ideas for the high lift.
Off-road/aftermarket bumper. You could add all kinds of storage (fuel/water/jack, even spare tire).
Also could go with a hitch mount tire carrier. Rather than carry the spare, carry jerry cans & the jack. I "think" there is one that swings...
My used flippac has the LED lights & I think they are plenty bright for my needs. There are 2, both on the drivers side. One is towards the rear it has both white & red LEDs (it's either all red or all white depending which way the switch is flipped). The one towards the front is all white...
Today I laid down some foam floor matting onto where the Flippac mattress would normally go. Cost $8/roll at harbor freight, and I used 2 rolls + a few feet from 3rd roll. I stuck them down with acrylic carpet tape ~$8 at the hardware store.
I think this will ad comfort, but definitely will...
Nice!
Another option is "superstrut", available at most big box stores. They don't have the nice tie down options, but may be an easier alternative for some folks.
Nissans "utilitrac" system is the exact same internal width as superstrut, so I've used a bunch of superstrut spring nuts &...
Thanks for posting up about these. They look very nice, I also like that they can use regular candles.
Not a must have for me, more of a nice to have. I'll likely wait & ask for them as a gift, or until they might be easier to buy in the US.
It's just single wall where it's bolted as far as I could tell. Track would go up there nicely.
Someone on a thread here has pictures of what the internal skeleton/structure of flippacs looks like. Some spots are double wall as you mention, some spots have metal reinforcing and some spots have...
