The previous owners had through bolted for a different awning, so I just used the same bolts. The nuts on the inside are backed with big fender washers also. It seems pretty sturdy.
Probably sturdiest to direct bolt the awning, as the previous owners (Shruk/RoamingRobertsons) did, but this...
+1.
Easy to do...if I can do it anyone can...
I used an outlet for boats (~$15), but outlets at auto parts stores should be fine too. Wired mine close to my "house" battery through a fused block with 10g wire.
You can also re-wire a factory outlet, but just seems easier to plunk in a new one.
I have a Dometic CF35, bought it on a similar special via Campingworld 3-4 months ago. Very happy with it so far. If you have a Campingworld nearby, and they have one in stock-you "should" be able to get the same deal-just give them a call. Saves on shipping.
My unit works like a charm, cycles...
Nice price & they have clear ones which I didn't notice over at my local container store. Clear would be good for around the house & inside the truck for me. I allways forget what I put in which bins, makes for fun a scavenger hunt whenever I look for stuff...
I don't know if you have this posted on Ford sites as well, but might be worth a shot (or Craigslist). I don't know any good /high traffic ones though, sorry.
I mention that because I had a topper on my Titan & did just that. Had several interested parties I'd have to drive a ways for but I...
From Maine Craigslist: "Palamino Mini-L Truck Camper - $3500 (Kingfield, ME)"
Not mine, no affiliation to seller:
Palamino Mini-L Truck Camper - $3500 (Kingfield, ME)
Figured I'd post it up here, as it seems more difficult to find nice offroad Pop-ups out this way...
Nice work with the LEDs, I esp like the bracket. Good idea!
The other nice thing about LED's is that "most" can use a dimmer.
I put a tiny dimmer/flasher switch on the power lines of my rear area lights. In regular mode those lights draw ~2-3A total & are pretty darned bright, dimmed down all...
I've read through this entire thread over a couple shifts at work.
Thank you very much for sharing your experience mytaco, very much appreciated. I might buy a bigger camper someday/upgrade from my flippac as need be.
Your input has been firmly planted in my mind as a reminder to do as much...
Nice, looks good!
-On the inverter, make sure you get one big enough to handle the "start" load of any tools you might use. You also might compare pricing up an inverter & wiring vs one of those newer sign wave generators.
I lucked out and found a used/refurbished 2000W Honda type knockoff...
A hopeful maybe...
Been wanting to go for a while now, can't commit yet though due to work scheduling & family. Same goes for Expo East that following weekend. It'd be great to attend either one, even better to do both!
Thanks for the idea(s), I've been following your build (the AC turned out great!).
Your awning mount system is super versatile. Very handy with that speaker mount pole when swung out as well.
Pictures of the the mounting plate for my CVT awning:
This picture shows the hardware provided. The nuts slide in the grove on the plate, and attach to the L bracket which would normall attach to a roof rack system.
The included system won't work for us Flippers, so...
Howdy,
Just curious if anyone has mounted a CVT awning, or similar bag awning onto there Flippac.
How'd you do it?
The previous owners of my FP had a Fiama (I think) mounted on the rear, but it looks like it used a different mounting system.
I was "hoping" I could have an adjustable mount...
Legs for my free storage flip up thing:
I think I over-did it a little bit. As a safety, the closest leg has PTO pins top & bottom. It's not going to go anywhere, nor will any properly stowed load on top of it....
That would work nice.
Big box/hardware stores will also have all different kinds of gasket stuff (foam, rubber, plastic, felt). Not sure which is better/cheaper.
The quickie foam I installed above cost ~$1.
