3rd gen pickup ifs suspension performance

Just to update before I go any farther with my build. My truck has run some harder trails in the last few months and I am still happy with where this budget suspension has taken me. Granted; the rear locker and lower gears in both the axles and transfer case have been the best additions for...

Post your 3rd Gen (89-94) pickup photos and mods

Started this thread quite a while ago and it died! Hoping to bring it back with some more input from all you 3rd gen truck owners. Come on, post up! I want to see what's out there! Let's get some ideas for other 3rd gen owners. I've made a few mods to my truck since this thread was started so I...

1985 Toyota Pickup EXT cab build

Cool truck. I bet it hauls *** with the new motor and Supercharger. I had overheating issues on my 22re and I replaced everything you did. It turned out to be my fan clutch. Simple fix and fairly cheap in the whole scheme of things if it fixes the problem.

Xterra or Tacoma for off-road performance?

That's a good call. I want one badly.

Xterra or Tacoma for off-road performance?

I say go with the Toyota. Granted; I'm very biased, there's 3 of them in my driveway and soon to be a fourth. Simple reason for this is Toyota quality. These trucks are reliable and are generally overbuilt from the factory. I prefer a truck for overland type travel because you can sleep in the...

slow, budget built '89 toyota pickup expedition rig

Tyler, I had a blast on the trail. It was good to meet you and I hope to run into you on the trail in the future. Thanks everyone else for the kind words. The truck has definately been an evolution of sorts. I love where it's at now and I just need to do a little maintenance before spring and...

    Dissent offroad 100 series build!

Just stumbled across this thread. You do very nice work! You have some solid skills! Beautiful fab work. I seem to think you had a Taco at 100s in the Hills last year?

Corbeau seats for 1st gen Tacoma

Oh, they are a bit wider than the factory seats and I don't run a center console so you might want to ask if they still work with the console in place.

Corbeau seats for 1st gen Tacoma

I have an '89 extra cab pickup so the internal cab dimensions are very similar to the first gen Tacoma. If anything my cab may be a bit smaller, but I don't think so. About a year and 7-8,000 miles ago I put the Corbeau Baja reclining seats in my truck and I couldn't be happier! They are very...

3rd gen pickup ifs suspension performance

Everything is holding up well, nothing broken yet. But I drive careful on the trail and don't hammer on the truck. As far as on the highway goes I would say it runs down the road very similar to when I had 4.10 gears and 31's. It ran down the interstate in flat parts of Utah at 80 mph. She did...

3rd gen pickup ifs suspension performance

Thanks, it worked out better than I hoped it would.

3rd gen pickup ifs suspension performance

12.50 wide tires on 8" wide rims with like 3.50" or 3.75" inches of back spacing. Hope this helps your decision.

3rd gen pickup ifs suspension performance

Quick update: started this thread over two years ago and I am still on the same suspension. Nothing changed, nothing broken, still happy with it. Would still recommend it! Where she is now: BJ Spacers with relaxed torsion bars up front, Old Man Emu rear springs. This equates to 1 1/4" of...

    Summitbeerowl's 93 Toyota Truck Build

If you carry a load quite often get the Old Man Emu heavy rated. It basically adds one more leaf to the spring pack and ups the load rating like 300 lbs. I run the heavy version on my truck. Then if you still need the extra 1" of lift go with a longer shackle. Longer shackles do work well with...

3rd Gen 22re Pickup. TAT and TET slow budget build.

Right on! Look forward to seeing some fatty tires on our generation truck, as I've never seen what it looks like before. Keep the build coming. We all learn from each other!

99 4runner Build Questions And Another Tire Size Question

You are definitely doing well with the truck you are choosing. I wish I would have held out for a 5speed version when we bought our '97 4Runner, they do have a little better "seat of the pants" performance over the automatic versions. Our 4Runner is my wife's DD and it is a limited with the...

3rd Gen 22re Pickup. TAT and TET slow budget build.

Your truck is coming along great! I have enjoyed reading the build. Just a question of curiosity, why go with a 13.50 inch wide tire? The extra width and weight will put a lot more strain on your front end, and especially your steering components. But what do I know, I'm running 35's on a...

    Summitbeerowl's 93 Toyota Truck Build

I would skip the longer shackle and go with a set of Old Man Emu springs for the rear, especially if you are still running the Northwest Off-road rear springs. I ran a full set of their springs back in the day on an '81 pickup and I can honestly say that they were the harshest riding springs I...

    Springbar tents. Which one?

Thanks everyone for the input. I have one more question for both the Springbar and Kodiak crowds. I have seen the various setup details and videos, but does setup become a pain if you are setting up and taking down everyday for a few days in a row?

    Springbar tents. Which one?

According to Springbar the packed length of the poles for the Campsite 3 is quite a bit shorter than what they have listed on their website. The tent will fit in the back of my truck after all. I think that just made my decision. Once I finish putting the clutch back in the old Fj40 and she's...
