    Jeep Wrangler 2024 Upgrade rumors...

Overall I think it's great to see the competition pushing Jeep to offer more options, more features, 35s from the factory (37s on the AEV Phase II 20th anniv. Rubicon), etc. etc. This can only be a good thing for us consumers. Now we settle in to wait... how many years before they announce a...

    Jeep Wrangler 2024 Upgrade rumors...

Well, the 2024 Wrangler for certain does have the door sticker... but I Can't read it. We need someone to take a photo of this at EJS! I take that back, I'm 99.9% sure that says 6550lbs / 2972kg And this is a 4xe Rubicon. What was the JL before this? (OK I found a Forum post that says the...

    Jeep Wrangler 2024 Upgrade rumors...

So the new D44 full float rear axle means they upped the towing to 5000lbs, but I'm not seeing anything about payload. Has anyone seen an official number yet? -Dan

Ursa Minor J30 Wrangler vs Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Gladiator?

A bit unrelated, but I just saw Hourless Life post this video. Watch what the streets are like. Watch the traffic. You will do this for hundreds of day on the PanAm (even when trying HARD to avoid bigger towns/cities) Do you want to tow in that? -Dan

Ursa Minor J30 Wrangler vs Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Gladiator?

They do have the max tow, and they are a good deal over GVWR. The AluCab makes it virtually impossible not to go over, in my opinion. The convertible aspect is something I honestly don't care about even 1%. I had the soft top from Alaksa to Argentina, and I figured I would fold it back and...

    Jeep Wrangler 2024 Upgrade rumors...

I know ARBs air lockers are good, but everyone I've met on a long-term expedition using them had reoccurring problems with their air lines and were sick to death of them. It seems inevitable once the time-frame is long enough. -Dan

    Gladiator battery management

My 2c is that the Genesis system is the way dual batteries were done in the 60s. It works, but it's horribly inefficient and you can't have a lithium battery, so you're stuck with batteries that are twice as big and weigh twice as much. The Redarc is good, but it costs 5x more than the...

    Jeep Wrangler 2024 Upgrade rumors...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the current e-lockers are the best thing possible - but remember, it's not about having the best thing possible. It's about having a good solution that doesn't increase the price of the vehicle, or reduce profit. ie. it's a cost balance. The Wrangler (other...

Ursa Minor J30 Wrangler vs Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Gladiator?

This is a very large open-ended question that will have a lot of different answers. I don't believe there is a right or wrong answer, it's more about how you want to travel and camp, and what works for you. You said mostly US travel for now, with a view to the Pan-Am. I'll give my thoughts...

    Jeep Wrangler 2024 Upgrade rumors...

An insider with direct knowledge once told me the lockers Jeep use in the Rubicon have been extremely, EXTREMELY reliable over the years. They basically never have warranty or failure issues (unlike, for example, the sway bar disconnect on the JK Rubicon). That insider told me Jeep are...

18 months around Australia with Dan Grec / The Road Chose Me

Hi Everyone, It's been a long time, but I've finally finished editing the conclusion to the Australia expedition. Even after all of the adventures above, there was one track that haunted my dreams, and I knew I would never, ever forgive myself if I didn't squeeze it in. It was actually closed...

A Lifted Overlanding Prius | Crossing Darién Gap | What's Needed?

To be clear, I shipped around the Darien, Jeep in a container from Colon, Panama to Cartegena, Colombia. That's what 99.99999% of people driving the Pan-Am do. When it comes to crossing the Darien, I met quite a few backpackers that did it. In terms of taking a vehicle, it's just a debate about...

    Ursa Minor Pop-Top Jeep JK

Sorry everyone, the plot gets deeper (thicker). I got all the snow off and climbed up to really see mine. The thing the cables pass through is round, black and has three little screws. It's clearly NOT a Blue Sea Systems 1007 Side Entry CableClam, but it is very similar. It has a logo, that if...

    Ursa Minor Pop-Top Jeep JK

I had a good look at mine this morning. Both cables run into one, and if it's not a Blue Sea Systems 1007 Side Entry CableClam, it is exceptionally, exceptionally the same to look at. -Dan

    Ursa Minor Pop-Top Jeep JK

Ursa mounted two flexible solar panels on mine (at my request) and they two MC4 joiners up on the exterior of the roof, so they only needed to run two cables inside (+ and -). The two cables run through one cableclam (assuming that's the exact brand/model they use). It sure looks the same. -Dan
