    Yaesu 7800 install

I don't have pictures but I located the main unit up under my AO drawers so it is very high out of any possible water and the head I used Velcro under the dash. As most Toyota owners I have met or chatted with online, I hate to make any new holes in my truck! Also, my 7800 came with a 15AMP in...

    Hilux in the US

From my research the Hilux was never made for Canada or the USA but is now available in MX. I saw a brand new one in Ajijic, MX last October, kool vehicle but gas engine. Importing as some have mentioned is 15 years old for Kanukistan and 25 years old for Yanksville. My son has '89 Hilux LN106...

Any input on 255/85s and stock gears?

Just to add to food for thought, remember most of your driving is going to be highway miles getting to and from the trails. Changing gearing will effect your cruise speed and RPMs to get there (especially in a manual) and hence your fuel economy. Most of your fuel expense is getting to/from...

Testing Pull-Pal Alternative: Smittybilt W.A.S.P. (Winch Anchor Support Platform)

So I gather from Wil's comment that to use the Pull Pal by yourself, one would have to have a very long or wireless remote. Hence, one can conclude it is not such a great thing for solo trips but seems to fit only situations where a solid object (tree, rock, other rig) is not around or if one...

    why jerry cans?

Couple of things about plastic Scepter cans that make them worth a bit more: * strong like you have never imagined, a tank can drive over them empty or full and they still work, try that with a NATO! (from Scepter's site and from the Kanukistani/US military in Afghanistan). * self contained...

    why jerry cans?

For city driving, to save weight, don't fill the aux tank or replaced bigger tank completely full, say half only!

    why jerry cans?

Very true, but Tom also said that if you check out your route by foot when you suspect a problem you might not get stuck at all! Check out Tom's rig and you will find an aux tank in it!

    Scepter water can question

I have 3 Scepters (2 water; 1 diesel) and when I first got them, I noticed a small leak in one. However, you have to get the thread on straight and tight and they work great! Back the cap off until it kind of clicks into place and then thread forward and tight (finger tight and then a bit more)...
