Andrew, this is good stuff! Hey by the way, I was talking to a friend here in town the other day, and he was raving about this wicked expedition rig he saw in Flagstaff... couldn't stop talking about it and how he wished he had one. Guess who he was referring to? He was stoked to see it pictured...
A couple points to add:
1. If you decide to go with the setup whereby your primary battery (starter battery) is used to run your accessories, then make sure it's a robrust model that can perform both powerful cold-cranking amps, and withstand deep discharges. Typical AGM deep-cycle batteries...
I will heartily raise a toast to Chip too  I've always been impressed with his passion and knowledge of all things 4WD camper related. We're really lucky to have him here at the Portal. Thanks Chip!
Thanks KC :p
I haven't addressed a couple of comments regarding the RTT...
Thanks guys. I've used my cargo/sleeping deck arrangement for countless trips over the years and it has served me well. Like most anything related to overlanding modifications, it has its merits and its downsides...
Thanks Andrew. I had the Carey & Company Basecamp medical kit with me on the trip. I was getting off my horse and there were some loose rocks hidden in the tall grass. All of my weight (including my F-stop backpack and camera gear) came down on a rock that rolled beneath my foot. After laying on...
It's great to see the images "live" from the road. I love the latest campsite shot. Just awesome! Glad to hear you all are doing well.

2 & 3. Examples of the dirt tracks along the way.

Hi Mike, that's a very valid question. I think the thread sections were actually created prior to the release of the production FJ Cruiser, so there is obviously a hold-over from that point in time and it hasn't been changed. I'm on a trip at the moment, but when I return I'll see what I can do...
I am on my way to another adventure in the Sierras of Mexico. All of my trips to the Sierras so far have been related to historical research and this one is no exception. This time we are hoping to find the long-lost location of a famous battle that took place in the 1800's. That is all I can...
I haven't purchased from them, but http://www.mexicomaps.com/ says they have 1:50000 digital topo maps available via FTP download. You need to specify which ones you need (there is supposed to be a PDF key image to reference).
CD's are available from Omnimap.com
You can also find some fairly...
