I had been thinking for sometime, how does everyone else stow their gear in their rigs for trips and why do they stow the way they do (reasoning?).
My primary reasoning for the way I do it in my rig is weight distribution and access. I would think most people would think this the same for their...
Pierre, good ideas/suggestions! I was thinking of starting a thread (http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24962) just to get everyones comments on how they pack up their rigs and why they pack their gear the way the do to get their reasoning. Just do not know what section to...
If you import them for a USA trip and then out to somewhere else, no problem if it is not permanent. We met a Swiss couple (fellow countrymen) in cowtown on their way around the world last summer, who needed some brake parts for their 75, we helped them out and then met them in Death Valley 4-5...
As for trades buying a 7x series, the so called big domestic 3 are cheaper and more ubiquitous, and easier repair and hence why a 7x series would never sell as a trades truck. Sorry as much as I would like to see them this is the realistic truth!
Having installed the exact CB, I can tell you the best is to get a ground directly form the battery or a fuse block to the battery. Positive is no problem where you get it as it is usually from or indirectly from the battery. Getting a good negative is primary.
Also do not coil any wires...
Nope, wish I could get the V8 on eBay, but no extra cash - saving for my '09 trips. I turbo'd my 1HZ and runs great now. But sure do love those troopys...:smiley_drive: thanks for the pics!
Heard they take about 8 hours to do 4 tires with those Staun internals.
Me 2 Simon!
I was lucky to get the MWB 73 and recently the MLWB 77.
Hard to live out of a SWB 70...met a guy in SnT 08 with a Kanukistani 71, had the clamshell RTT on top but the back end was crammed full...very tight!
You should post up your troopy Simon, or at least the link to your rig...
This was taken (Oct 20, 2008) with an Olympus FE370 (point and shoot) in Barrancas Del Cobre, MX near the Hotel by Divisadero where Jesse James/Kid Rock stayed on their bike trip.
Last year for FJC is 2010 if it gets that far. Also heard tons are up for sale as they have poor visibility, poor fuel economy and rear door spare tire carrier hinges are too week for the weight some people put on them with bigger tires, fuel carriers, hi-lifts, etc. Recently heard efforts are...
Nice rig, Andrew, congrats!...you scored! Wonder if we can get the two 70s together for a trail ride one day. I don't use the AC much neither, love the heat! R12 might need pressurizing and you can get that cheapo in MX. Got my R12 totally replaced and a new AC filter and compressor gasket for...
Mark, as you have a wood box type storage and unless you are using the side compartments for other stuff, this would be a good spot to flush mount the plug(s). I used the same cheapy (2.99) Wal-Mart plug with the spring top (water resistant) under the hood for my Helton shower plug in. Also...
I'll take it! Absolutely perfect! I love it! Drool! I guess us guinea pigs in Kanukistan will have to wait for a few more years and then we can sell you our 70 series diesels that we can bring in (15 years +) but have to wait for the 25+ year rule for the USA. I'll be ready for another one by...
I still use the plastic boxes that my Craftsman tools come in. Yes they are crappy! and I have told various reps and emailed them to fix this but to no avail. The clips to lock them eventually break, and yes the sockets et al. rattle around and some of the small ones work free. Driving a Toyota...
