    Behold...my home-made Engel fridge slide!

Very nice design. Wondering how you got the 1/4" tubes attached to the angle iron? I suspect you welded them? I agree with the other posting might want to trim some material so you don't get bruises.cuts on legs etc. Looks good enough to copy....again! It's funny how each time something is...

    Best GPS under $300 ?

Hi there fellow canuck. Best way to do this is: There are 5 GPS manufactures that are pretty well know , Garmin (the biggest, most stuff available, third party stuff, file formats, etc.) , Delorme, Magellan, Tom Tom, Lowarance,; each has their website divided for mobile (hand held) as well as...

Yaesu FT7800R Mods and Programming Software

IMHO the 7800 is a tough little radio that will compare well with any out there. It has tons of memory and more than most, a truly versatile radio. I use ADMS software to program all the repeaters in each state, province, country (each in its own memory bank) I travel through and scan while I...

Radio usage, flexiblity, organization, reference stuff, etc.

I pretty much have to agree with that assessment as well. Although I have about 800-1000 repeaters to cover the entire western half of Canada and USA and having a place to download a file with lat/longs is a lot easier to import into my GPS. I have tried a few in Calgary area near to where I...

    New fuse block at Sierra

Blue Sea fuse blocks I have one in my truck as well, works great keeps everything neat (like an electrician should) and with the labelling you always know what is what. Just wish they had had the waterproof ones when I got mine. They come in 6 or 12 position models, keep in mind total amperage...

Radio usage, flexiblity, organization, reference stuff, etc.

Great system, not unlike what I have found to use for my travels as well. How do you remember which bank is which? Does the 8800 allow you to rename the banks or do you have a cheat sheet?

Radio usage, flexiblity, organization, reference stuff, etc.

Radio Organization Now that we have the frequency band stuff more or less worked out along with legalities, how do you all organize your radios? What I mean here is most Ham radios have some memories, whether it is regular, band, hyper, home, etc. We no doubt have quite the variety of radios...

Radio usage, flexiblity, organization, reference stuff, etc.

Most people do not actually know the frequencies, just the channels, that's why I mentioned them. Don't want to get into any kind of deep discussion but, the FCC rule book, on their website, and my manual for my GMRS/FRS radios which quotes FCC rules, DOES designate them as both channels...

Radio usage, flexiblity, organization, reference stuff, etc.

Hate to correct you (I did some checking [FCC] as you so correctly pointed out the flaw in my post) as you seem so well informed and legal (r u a comm lawyer by chance?), but Canada does NOT require any licensing for GMRS/FRS at all. The US DOES, but only for GMRS (CH1-7 and 15-22) not FRS...

    Cobb cooker

You will love it, very versatile. Another suggestion I have is I buy Kingsford Match Light easy starting briquettes and they come in various size bags as well. I get the one that is a couple of pounds say 5 or so, so don't have to carry so much extra weight and bulk. As for cooking for one, I...

    Recommendation needed for trailer battery

I too have a 24V system in my TLC from Japan. I use a device made by Solar Converter (nothing to do with the sun, just a name, Canuck at that!) http://www.solarconverters.com/product_frame.html they make converters for our systems that manage the load on both batteries (provided they are the...

    Ham Radio Programming

Great idea with the laptop, but for me and the extend trips south from Calgary to as far as MX, a laptop is just one more thing to make my truck stand out and for me to leave it somewhere, it breaks, or some one wants to steel it.I try to travelling light so if I find some neat things to bring...
