1st Gen Bumper continued
As noted afterward, we forgot to put on safety hooks for the chains required by DOT/MOT when hauling a trailer. 2nd Gen fixed that (more on that later)
A hole was cut under the 2" receiver to allow access to the 4 bolts holding the receiver to the rear frame rail cross...
1st Gen rear bumper
My 73 came with a pretty lame excuse for a rear bumper and since most of the time which way do you get pulled out, the rear, right! So I wanted to replace mine with something I can actually pull someone or they can pull me. Highlux had met a guy who is a welder/fab guy by...
Battery Management System
I was starting to think I needed to figure this out, as I had a number of 12 V applications (CB, Ham, Stereo, etc) which only came in 12V so I had to address this quickly before I did any damage to my 2 new Optima blue tops.
Luckily there is a company...
Misc winter research and goodies
Now that the winch/bumper were in place, I just needed to check them out on some trails. Waiporous and McLean Creek are the only close areas and have some activity in the winter months. A friend at a local Toyota dealership (Jeremy - Canyon Creek Toyota) gave me...
Front Bumper and Winch
Once the tint was done (that really helps driving in bright sun in Kanukistan as well as other areas), I was getting antsy to get her out on the trails. So needed to get a bumper that can handle the pulling, winch and potential deers which inevitably come out on the dirt...
Ya we checked it out as possible retirement place...too cold in winter, too expensive (140 realtors for 250 listings and all north of 300K with the current economic climate...sure?!), utilities are 2-3 times Guaymas...but had a great time and met some super people.
The trip was outstanding, thanks to Mundo and friends and more...
Hi All, Sorry I haven't written in a bit but I had a blast. a most outstanding trip to say the least.

I am back
Once the gear is out of the way and emails, mail, bills, Xmas shopping, I will get back to this build and Oh ya, the photos of the trip to do as well....some teasers....Merry Christmas
Gotta love those 70 series
Jumbo GilGhana, I am envious of anyone who has a troopy (yes you too Andrew) and enjoy seeing your build.
I have a 73 series (HZJ73) from Japan and had her (NOMAD) for about 3 years now and have started a build here...
Barancas Del Cobre (Copper Canyon)
Hi all, Yes I am finally back and wishing I was somewhere warmer as friend says all the time. One of the best trips I have had in awhile!
Edmundo and Dr. Monroy (Mario to his friends) were great travelling companions as well as good party goers. We have...

I too am interested in the NVTC for 2009 but coming from Kanukistan I need a bit of notice to prepare and combine the trip with some other adventure. Please keep me posted for NVTC 2009 and I would like to help out if I can.
Will be here for 2 weeks, anyone around this area before heading further south along coast to PV. and want to get together, look us up at Hotel Los Jitos downtown San Carlos.
Hey, thanks everyone, looking forward to this trip :safari-rig: for quite some time (since last summer's curtailment). I will try to post up if I have any spare time when I have internet access along the route, while sun tanning. Oops sorry Colin/Pierre, I will try to bring some warmth home to...
Haven't seen too many of my compatriots posting their kool 70 series trucks or their builds (may be not so popular?), so I thought I would post up my build. Should have done this long ago while I was actually still doing the build, now I am pretty much done except for a few really kool...
Sorry I haven't been back to post and say thanks you to all you guys, my apologies!
Biggest reason is that trip never happened completely, had trani issues long story (will get to it on a build thread), now resolved and heading out in 4 days (Sept 9) for another marathon (2.5 months or so)...
