I built a sleeping platform in a Wagoneer for a friend of mine with significant lumbar issues (not degenerative, his was an injury). It wasn't comfortable for him to get in and out of the back via the tailgate, so I installed this setup and it works great. Folds up and stays mounted to the...
Here's a reference of how it goes on old CJ's... this was my attempt last summer at repairing a couple little rust bubbles. It turned into me basically rebuilding the body and re-welding most of the panel seams. Wound up having to do a complete interior and exterior respray.
My...
Trailer wiring is working now. Spent the day building the slide-out porch.

Whole thing will measure 6ft x 4ft extended. Have a few more supports to install, some painting to do, then get the floor and stairs on.
I have repaired a lot of rust in CJ's... I will warn you that floor rust in these is a deep pit. You have hat channel supports under there and are guaranteed to be rusted out as well and they travel everywhere under the body. I can almost assure you that there is also rust under the gas tank...
Do you have more pictures available from this trip? I would love to see them. I'm a Willys guy myself, but I can see where an overloaded Willys FC would give you problems.
The fun parts of the build are over and it's a slog now. Finished up the rust repairs in the service bed and am coating the interiors of the compartments with POR-15. Slowly wiring up all of interior lights for the bed compartments and the trailer lights. Decided that this cabinet is just...
This Kodiak has become our family tent. It's awesome and has enough room for me to stand up in. Ours is the smaller 9x8. It's been through some nasty weather and never had a problem. Takes just a couple minutes to set up/tear down. I made an annex for it so that we could run the woodstove...
Finally got the table cut to the right shape so people can fit around it and it still has enough room. What a pain.
Also was happy to find that a full-size propane cylinder fits in one of the cabinets. You can see the start of my outdoor kitchen in the compartment to the left of the...
We have lights! All of the cabinets have lights on pressure switches that automatically come on when the door is opened. Also have recessed lights on a dimmer in the ceiling. Love how well lit this thing is.
Perfectly reasonable question. Unless I changed the layout of the whole camper, I'm stuck with that part. There is cement board and 2 inches of foam insulation between the two. During my last test burn with the stove, the wall of the cooler compartment was cool to the touch.
