Another day, another "driving with a hangover" trek :sombrero:
I like the way the mountains just keep going and going.
After you cross Piedras Verdes you start the descending, usually the most dangerous part of the sierra, of course the trip didn't disappoint giving some of us more...
After the nice snack, we keep on running toward Cerocahui, were a celebration was in place. we realized it wasn't a good idea to stay there so that gave us the perfect opportunitie to stay at Paraiso del Oso, a Copper Canyon landmark for horse riding people (The guys organize horseback treks...
After Divisadero you get to San Rafael, where the paved road ends (Thankfully ....) so we got on to do what I like best, rolling and jumping around in beat up trails ....
The Mighty ChePe, going down to the coast.
On our way to Cerocahui.
On the way to Divisadero, you are actually driving on a narrow ridge most of the way.
On one side its the famous divisadero .....
But on the other its a very nice canyon on its own right, not as breathtaking but with a small beach on the bottom that just begs to make a camp on.
We did get to Creel later that afternoon and after some walk around town and some loud music in a local cafe, we settled for the night, looking forward for a touristy day next morning.
Creel has many charms but its becoming a tourist trap in its own way with Arareco lake and the Valley of the...
On Dr. Monroy's recommendation we decided to make a quick stop near San Juanito to enjoy local Broiled Chicken and a couple of cold ones.
Due to some problems with the water supply in Creel a small dam was commissioned a while back, the result its a stunning secluded lake not far from Creel and...
There are a couple of common ways to get from Basaseachi to Creel, the paved one that makes a big loop up north and the off road goodness of a trail that I like to take, however progress its doing its thing and now its being paved also :-(.
Progress, Grrrrrr ....
A new day gave us some fresh road to cover and a lofty midday destination, Basaseachi Falls.
I has been some time since i visited Basaseachi fall outside of the rainy season, it was just as nice as i remembered. I keep thinking that I need to spend a week or so at that place alone, so many...
As I approached Esperanza, I saw a very nice Toyota giving shade to a guy having a cold beer. That was the first of many signs that I was in for a good trip.
We finally got to said hello to each other and in a hurry we were driving towards Yecora, Sonora, A town known for its violent affairs...
As I raced along Mexico's 15 towards Esperanza, Sonora, Mx. I just kept on thinking how good life really is; On Esperanza a good friend of mine, whom I have never actually meet, was waiting for me.
The trip has started, or at least the plan, a year ago when I received a PM asking for directions...
You don't have to, we deserve most of the bad image, however there are some of us trying to get all that behind, I might take us a while but we will get there. :o. We'll just have to convince the other 95% and most of the police force. :D
You are very welcome, don't forget to drop me a message...
Hurry up !!!, We are doing the invading thing much faster and cheaper :sombrero: :sombrero: :sombrero:
On another note, Its becoming a problem more and more, we used to be a ragged group of explorers and now some of my friends are buying brand new JKs and shiny ARB bumpers, I guess I could run...
Given the choice of lets said 2 million bucks, would you buy a Million dollar rig and go at it for a few months or retire on 1,950,000 and go at it full time on 50,000 of equipment?
I think I would go with the 50k rig.
How about getting Crew cab Hiluxes, I heard they are plentiful and cheap in southamerica, They might not have the LC glamour, but should work very good.
Saludos
