If you've got the cash, I would get the dual band. If you're on a budget, go for the 2M. I would pass on the mobile HT until you can get one as a 2nd radio. You will appreciate the higher power of a mounted 12V unit.
[EDIT] Ha, Dave beat me to it. ("yea, what he said!")
Yea, I agree. I saw a new magazine ad for it recently. It would be cool for a large GVW vehicle. But for us little guys, here we have been talking about how to try and get the winch weight down to 50 lbs. or so. I see it has wire rope, so I imagine switching to synth would make a nice...
Mark, I am interested in this too. I did some searching and I am thinking it may be a repeater at Black Mtn. just west of the Colorado river and north of Yuma. Some of us were actually right there earlier this year. Anyway, there may be a repeater there for the East Co. Repeater Assoc. at...
I think I have seen those guys on America's Most Wanted. :orngartis Those are cool photos KC.
Chris, that shot of the Jeep is excellent! Great light. The misty effect of the forest with the light beams filtering through really makes it a dynamic photo. Nice job!
For me, it was due to the added height. That is because I added a fairly tall roof rack configuration with a spare tire. On top of that, I sometimes haul a canoe. If you are not concerned with the final height (and added wind drag) using the taller campers, then they are definitely an advantage...
As far as I know, you can't go with deeper gearing in the Tacoma t-case because it is a chain driven unit with planetary gears. The physical size of the case won't allow the clearance needed to go with a larger planetary. I think the only way you can do it is to use adapters with an older t-case...
I don't think the full time 4wd aspect has any bearing on alignment requirements (unless maybe the rear wheels actually have a steering mechanism for cornering).
An alignment adjusts the caster, camber, the toe position of the wheels.
An alignment should be done whenever you change something...
I'm not sure. I have heard people say it is probably hard on the fridge. I have run mine on low power a few times and it is still going strong, so luckily no damage that I am aware of.
Do you mean a low-voltage disconnect for the fridge?
Wow, that was fast! It's hard to know exactly what happened with the battery, and why it went flat. Since it is new, I wouldn't worry about any damage at this point. Just charge it back up. Did you charge it before you used it overnight? If it came off of a shelf at Costco and then didn't get...
This looks like one of the best ExPo trips of the year. The pics are outstanding! Khan, that slideshow is fantastic. You and Graham take some really great photos. Looks like you all had some classic utah slickrock challenges for sure. Too cool
I really enjoyed seeing the wagon trail evidence...
Rob, again you are bringing up some good considerations. I belive a typical optima 34R battery is only about 55AH, so three regular group 34 batteries of various brands would likely not exceed 200AH, no? I think Doug has the 80 amp OEM alternator.
