    Fiberglass repair advice needed

OH, I'm aware of his mastery of fiberglass fabrication. One off stuff like that is gruel an art form. I wasn't aware of his repair threads. With limited internet access, I didn't have time to scan through a bunch of threads so I fired a flare in the air, so to speak. I like what I've seen thus...

    Fiberglass repair advice needed

So, I let my roof rack rub a hole in the factory top of our '07 JKU. The hole is about 2"-2.5" in diameter and it is all the way through the first layer and I can see the hollow inside the top. It is NOT clear through to the interior of the Jeep. Can anyone give me any helpful tips on...

2014 Granite Rubicon Unlimited JK350 Expedition Build

I bet the 440 does bring people in. Glad you're following along. It should start to get really interesting, we catch our flight to Cape Town this evening! Stay tuned.

2014 Granite Rubicon Unlimited JK350 Expedition Build

I like the Metalcloak setup. Their springs are some of the stiffest on the market for the JK, which works out well with the added weight. If we were staying in the states, I would have put a built Dana 44 on the front, bigger breaks all around, and called it good. I do love the Dana 60s...

2014 Granite Rubicon Unlimited JK350 Expedition Build

Thanks for the info. I wanted to hear from someone with real world experience pulling one, and with your hemi, I thought torque numbers would be similar. I may add an air assist system once we see how the Jeep rides with the trailer. I have stiffer springs on with the Metalcloak lift, but...

2014 Granite Rubicon Unlimited JK350 Expedition Build

Power and towing questions Nice build. I have some questions for you: 1) What hp & torque numbers do you think your getting from the hemi? B) How does it pull the UEV 440? C) What is the height of the top of your tow ball? What drop on your stinger? I'm getting ~160 hp/~400 ft-lbs out of...

    Genright and Fowmaster

Another piece to remember is that the front anti-sway bar has more effect than the rear. Maybe you try the Currie rear and if you don't like it, put a heavier front bar on the Jeep. Hell wig makes one they say is beefier than the stock front bar. I am told, but didn't do a comparison myself...

    Genright and Fowmaster

I have noticed a bit more roll than stock once we added: 4" Metalcloak lift The Gen Right tank Heavier motor and trans Currie rear anti-rock bar Is it the Currie bar that is the cause? Hard to say. We also have a Gobi rack, with a road shower, Hi-Lift, shovel, Maxtrax, and awning mounted to...

    Genright and Fowmaster

I agree that you get no exhaust smell in the cab dumping it pre-axle, and I'm burning diesel. The GenRight tank, once installed, is fantastic. Mine fills a little slow and the front (stock) tank fills really slow due to excessive foam. I think this is a problem with the vent line plumbing...

    JK aux fuel tank

One Vote for GenRight We put the GenRight on our Jeep. This moves the muffler up under the driver's side seats, with the tail pipe pointed down just in front of the rear axle. Someone made it sound like the GenRight would have to be run without a muffler, which is why I put my 2¢ in here. It...

Maxtrax vs TRED vs Tracmats vs X-Trax vs X-Jack

Jonathan, can you expound on the failures of articulated sand mats? I can see why a flexible mat, such as carpet scraps, would fail, but am curious about your experience with rigid articulated options. Thanks

The Pioneering Spirit's Expedition JKU Build

Yes, they have always had the no, low, and full height grill guard options. The headlight hoops are only available on the full height grill guard though. And yes, they're lightweight, I put together the main beam of our front bumper sitting on the couch, with the bumper on my lap. They focus on...

The Pioneering Spirit's Expedition JKU Build

Pronghorn expects it to be $1,900 - $2,000. Their bumpers are well engineered and quality products. I have enjoyed seeing how much thought and care they put into the design and engineering for this bumper. It is the only rear bumper for the JK, or any Jeep, with this much functionality. We...

The Pioneering Spirit's Expedition JKU Build

I have kept my finger on this pulse, and they are not yet offering the R&P and carrier/locker for re-gearing. They are selling whole axle assemblies in those ratios, but not the parts. Yes, we are geared WAY too low, but that was the best option at the time. If we can the the parts before we...

The Pioneering Spirit's Expedition JKU Build

Yes, 4.88 is S-U-P-E-R low, which is awesome off road, but less than awesome on the highway. It also means I cannot do burnout so, even in gravel. Dana only offers The Ultimate Dana 60s (bolt on fit for JKs) in 4.88 or 5.56. They are supposed to be putting other ratios on the market soon, but...

The Pioneering Spirit's Expedition JKU Build

With 4.88 differentials, we got between 16 and 19 mpg. We also had a 35x12.50 spare tire strapped to the roof. We're getting about the same running around town. We're looking into re-gearing to 4.10 diffs as soon as Dana Spicer and Eaton release the parts, any day now.

The Pioneering Spirit's Expedition JKU Build

We finally got the call from Bruiser, it was time to book tickets to fly to Florida and pick up our Jeep! The guys at Bruiser offered to pick us up at the airport, which they did, in our Jeep. It was quite a thrill to see our Jeep, in it's new form, come around the corner at the Tampa airport...

Looking to absorb some of the Jeep wisdom here

Hopeless Diamond, I think you hit is on your last post hit on the head. If you aren't planning on some intense wheeling, the components on the Rubicon may not be worth it to you. Given your description of your plans for the Jeep, the Dana 30 front will hold up fine. If you ever decide to...
