The Pioneering Spirit's Expedition JKU Build

Scott, Yes, we have a P-pump. Bruiser did that to simplify potential repairs in Africa. Truth be told, I'm leaning on their knowledge of the 4BT, i am surprised you can tell that from the posted photo. I'll learn how to service and diagnose problems, but they have been great with selecting...

The Pioneering Spirit's Expedition JKU Build

Greco, in short; maybe. We're working with Bruiser on going with them. I will post any updates on that as I have them. Drop me a line with your plans, for both EJS and your Africa trip. Your silence is driving me crazy! HAFICON, we have had that bumper for,a couple of years now, and love it...

Making a JKU fun in the Highway (speed) parts of an Expedition?

Don't overlook the MC RockSport shocks. They're not the fancy (expensive) 6 Pack shocks, but they get good reviews. I'm getting them on my Jeep, and will give you my thoughts once I get some miles on them in March.

The Pioneering Spirit's Expedition JKU Build

GMWelder 86, The E-Lockers come stock with the Dana 60s. Those D60s, The Ultimate Dana 60, are built for the JK, and are not the standard D60. The carrier/locker is not the same, among other things. No one yet builds one to fit, except Eaton, and they only build one for 4.56 and numerically...

Making a JKU fun in the Highway (speed) parts of an Expedition?

Sweet! If speed/power does continue to bug you, keep that re-gear in mind. I'm interested to hear how that goes. We're putting the Metalcloak Overland Elite 3.5 lift on our Jeep, which is best for our use. Please post up your thoughts on your Metalcloak system once you get it installed.

The Pioneering Spirit's Expedition JKU Build

Update, with photo! Bruiser has the lift on it, axles swapped, Currie Anti-Rock installed, and new wheels and tires on our Jeep. They also gave it a good wash before pulling it into the engine shop to install the 4BT. Pretty, right?

Making a JKU fun in the Highway (speed) parts of an Expedition?

Check your gear ratio Did you re-gear your Jeep to get 3.73? They came from the factory with 3.21 gears, except the Rubicons with their 4.10 stock gearing. I know that our '07 Sahara with 3.21 and 33" tires was nearly worthless at freeway speeds. I would think a change to 4.10 or 4.56 would...

Two year circumnaviagtion of Africa in my 2007 JKUR - The Road Chose Me

I'm not betting on their being common in Africa, with the market saturation of Land Cruisers and Land Rovers. It seems like if American Brands are well represented, then so is Dana. If not, they could be hard to find. Maybe I'm wrong,

Two year circumnaviagtion of Africa in my 2007 JKUR - The Road Chose Me

I'm not hating on the Sport, the Dana 30 on our Sahara has done us well. My thoughts on taking the Rubicon over the Sport are based in parts durability and support for this trip, to Africa. If he were staying here in the Americas, I think the sport would be fine. While he isn't planning on...

Two year circumnaviagtion of Africa in my 2007 JKUR - The Road Chose Me

Go with the Rubicon The best reason to go with the Rubicon is for the Dana 44 front axle. The bigger R&P on the D44 will take more abuse than the Dana 30 will. While you may not plan on any heavy 4 wheeling, it only takes one incident to strip that diff, and you won't have any parts support...

Dilemma of which to KEEP.... Wrangler or Grand Cherokee

You could re-gear the JK. I know that will help ours, it came with 3.21 R&Ps and I never saw 6th, even on a downhill. Climbing any hill on the freeway meant 4th or even 3rd if it were longer than a 1/4 mile! 4.88s should help immensely, and give more low end on the trails.

The Pioneering Spirit's Expedition JKU Build

On trailers and tanks SRUPike, We are planning on using a camping trailer. Our plan is to get one in South Africa, hopefully a Conqueror. We decided to keep our Jeep as a daily driver, so no Ursa Minor or other all-in-one setups. That helps keep the vehicle weight as light as possible. With...

The Pioneering Spirit's Expedition JKU Build

In preparation for our upcoming trip from South Africa to Morocco, we are building our '07 JKU . Our goals are increased durability and improved reliability. To that end, we have sent the Jeep to Bruiser Conversions for a Cummins 4BT among other changes. Full Build Sheet is below. Though we do...

    Road Shower Reviiew

We took our Road Shower out on a week long camping trip to the desert of south east Oregon a couple of weeks ago. This was our first experience with one of these, and it was pretty darn nice. I am used to jumping in a river or lake to wash, or taking a sponge bath out of a pan on the stove...

Urban Escape Vehicles - Conqueror Australia

Honu, Thanks, PM Sent. Dendy, I have read the story of your trailer, and am impressed by your luck. My wife found these the other day on the internets, and after some serious discussion, we are going to look at trying to buy one, if the shipping costs aren't out of this world. A used...

Can anyone give me an idea of the shipping cost if we bought one in either SA or AUS and shipped it to the US? The Companion/440 is pretty sweet!
