Welcome to ExPo :beer: The Chiricahuas are some very special mountains indeed! Lots of solitude and history there. I think the optimal way to experience the best parts of these mountains is on foot with a backpack.

How about just using a cheap CB, but mount it inside of a watertight tight box with a flip-open lid at the end where the controls are? You could seal the openings for the wiring harness and mic with rubber grommets or silicone. Just an idea

Quite possibly new tie rod ends and new rack bushings will take care of it. You should be able to troubleshoot these items if you can get it up in the air and have someone sit inside and move the steering back and forth. You can see the whole rack move if the bushings are worn out, and you will...
