I would hope winter travels encompass more than the Dakotas in January! If not, you have bigger issues do straighten out before setting up an expedition truck.
A guy can pound steel into frozen soil well enough, if not you can build a fire over the spot you need to and go at it again latter...

Oh yes, I know! I used to drive a 1976 corolla SR5 coupe with a 5spd. 270,000 miles.
It consumed a few dozen sparkplugs, a couple caps, wires and rotors, A belt or two, 3 or 4 batteries, and the alternator, driveline, and starter are due for a rebuild. I think it can run forever because it...
build the 03 and don't get sidetracked by old junk:sombrero:
sorry but a turboed 22re strapped to a loaded expedition rig - via transmission fluid, is like making an appointment with your local scrapyard.
But after the 03 is done, you should certainly get a turbo 22re runner to have as a fun...
I use the high output ARB compressor. It lacks the performance of some, but it comes with great instructions and a very complete wiring harness that is ready for front and rear air lockers.
I'm leaning towards 5.29 as opposed to 4.88 even though I'm pretty light and have a 5spd.
I imagine 5th gear will wonder why its getting so much attention all the sudden.
The only reason 4.88's are still being considered is the fact that my gas mileage is pretty good with the 4.30's and 255's...
Sounds awesome, I was thinking you were doing something stupid like plucking out the 3rz :)
AT, now SAS, I might have to kick you out of my club:bike_rider:
The change isn't just about power, it also effects engine braking and your shift points and power band.
I went from a 265 to a 255 with stock 4.30 gearing. The gears, engine, and even brakes don't get along with the rpm's and power band like they once did. On steep slopes it wants to run away...
Ok cool.
I have bilsteins in back so the travel should be ok, But... The bilstein shocks are pretty crappy and they heat up and become choppy after a short bit. I should probably upgrade to the icon remote resi shocks so that the back can keep up with the front. Its amazing how hot the back...
Thank you!, It is a full size spare, I bent the supports out a little with a sledge and I'm careful to place it away from the rear diff and driver side spring pack when securing it.
Thanks for the links, I missed those by only reading stuff concerning airbags (duh) Anyway, you think the add a leaf would work well for me? do I just order them and the center pins I have work with it?
Really like your truck btw!
Thanks!
It is a light, two seperate ones mounted under there in fact. One over the fridge and another over the stove. I got them from napa, they are a sealed domelight with a gasket and pushbutton switch.
There is nothing better than hanging out in the wild with a child!
I'm looking into upgrading my rear suspension next, It seems undersprung in back despite the 7 leaf springs in my Dakar pack. With everything loaded it sits 5" off the bump stops.
Does anybody know if I can add an extra leaf to what I have, or am I going to have to opt for the ride-rite airbag...
And thank God I can come to this site and find out what they're thinking!
Thank you sir! I certainly used your build for ideas and inspiration! I also enjoyed reading about your truck in the OJ:)
If only the stock market were as predictable as vehicle offering trends:victory:
I really wish I...
I have two of the smaller gray lid action packers. My initial plan was to replace them with something more durable and sealed, but a recent event has changed my mind and they will remain in my "kit" for some time to come.
The event was getting stuck in a crusted mud flat just before a pending...
