The only reason I could think of is in the 3 or 9 o'clock position gravity is pulling down on the brake shoes which will apply a very very light braking force. You won't be able to feel it but the life of the pad will probably be affected.

Well I sold the bike last night so now I've got the funds to put towards a trailer. Back on prime day a vendor had all of their Smittybilt stuff 10%off. So unless I find something used that I like before they go back on sell again I'll probably be ordering one during the next sell.

Thanks, a lot of great input and thoughts. Quality was one of my initial concerns because Smittybilt started out with many quality issues, but they seem to stepping it up here lately. Also, I've got a JKU so the 5 on 5 is a plus for me.
