I didn't comment on your ER. But off the top, a better rig would be a full size 4x4 truck with a detachable camper- like a 4wc but a hard top. There is a host expedition camper for sale right now (just the back) on the overlander marketplace on Facebook for $50k, pair that with a flatbed diesel...
Fairly good price, that's what I sold my very modified ECamper for last year. The Element groups love to tare you apart for listing an element above $10,000 though ahahha
I thought BP51s aren't long travel unless they are on SAS vehicles like the defender? Or else they are a 2.5-3" lift adjustable coil shock. Please correct me if I'm wrong
you can build one of those for less than $100k by buying a total composite box from Andre, and getting the truck from Govplanet. I don't understand why no one takes practical approaches to builds in the US anymore.
I need to put you in contact with my friend Ian, he does this in WA, OR, CO, and UT.. Not as amazing as you think with a full size expedition truck, you're more suited for Vanlife with the travel nursing. There is also a great Facebook group about this, that help with rig setups and info on what...
Hey man, Ill be completely honest- look towards the European market. You get double for your money, I know shipping can be a hassle but to be honest its not bad. I have lots of contacts in the EU expedition vehicle scene and could help you if you'd like.
Im from the USA but stay away from USA...
It wouldn't be a problem, I've imported much more hecticly built up vehciels than this with zero issues. Just have a sheet listing all the work- I have a booklet with all receipts and photos.
I'm not sure how many people that view this have done a full ground up build like this before- but I did the math, and if you did it at a USA labor rate this build would've cost you $59,217.. So at $20k ($25k shipped and landed) this is an extreme bargain.
I try to keep my builds unique but still very practical at the same time. I have a ton of fun designing and building vehicles, can't wait to share the cruiser outfit over on my other thread with you guys. Its pretty cool.
Ill miss the 25MPG this 300tdi disco get though, especially with the...
It sounds like a sin being a Land Rover guy, but I sent the funds today for a (1HZ) 78 series troop carrier with a alucab top and interior. Got it for an insanely good deal- less than I have into the disco actually.
The top was a full custom one off by a company in Cape Town called...
Custom top construction. The top of it is extremely strong- you can safely sit up there with two lawn chairs or even a mattress to sleep under the starts. The top construction is 1" aluminum square tubing spaced 1' apart, that was also fitted with 1" foam insulation and sound deadening...
Bought and built it from its completely stock form- like how you'd pick it up from the dealer back in 1998.. This is one of less than 70 2 door 300tdi's built with this configuration.
Hey everyone,
So I’ve decided to sell my super rare 2 door 300tdi discovery 1 that I fully kitted out for two person overland travel. Im only selling because the opportunity to move to another vehicle has become available- so absolutely no trades.
the truck is extensively modified, but engine...
