    Look for "Russian Birch" or "Scandinavian birch" plywood. It has many more plies than spruce or fir and is far more durable. Cut it to fit then layer it up with West system epoxy. Forget 40 years, it will outlast you! Bond it in place with 3M 4200 or 5200.

    The coolant heater in my International Harvester will trip a GFI every time but works fine on a regular plug. Pretty typical of in line coolant heaters.

    Why are you matching your starter and house batteries? You need a starter battery and a deep cycle battery. Only the charging profiles need match.

    I have to say that style of step is an absolute deal breaker for me. They stick out way too far from the truck. You can't deploy them when parked on a street, they will block the sidewalk. It takes a bit more work, but a two step well inside the vehicle means you only need one or at most two...
