Great posts from you guys ;) Those red cone pics and story are awesome. Some recent hiking reports from Elbert indicate it is doable w/o snowshoes. I am still ironing out my plan, but it looks like I may drive to Mesa Verde on Wed (get there very late), do MVNP on Thurs. morning, and then...

    Optima Batteries....which one?

There are larger cap. units, they just cost more. You also could just make your own. The bottom line is if you want it permanently in the 4runner or not, and where you want to store it. Once you make that decision, then you can start determining what to get.

    Optima Batteries....which one?

Vince, Optima is an Absorbed Glass Mat battery. They use the spiral wound AGM whereas I guess the Lifeline uses the flat plates. I couldn't agree with you more there. And the specs you listed for your Lifeline blow away my Group 31 Optima - and my optima cost more and weighs just about the...

    Optima Batteries....which one?

I think your logic is correct (too many fun toys at camp = dead battery). However, the amp-hour capacity on those little batteries is not sufficient IMO. I think you would be better off just getting one of the deep cycle battery packs that has the 120w inverter and 12vdc adapters. Just charge it...

:lurk: I know just getting together all of the elec. pieces and mapping out the wiring is a time consumer. Sounds like you are humming along.

    Another new guy question

32" tires is kind of a happy-medium between stock and modified. 33" tires will require clearancing, re-gearing, speedo correction, more cost for the tires, and more rolling resistance (although that last aspect is probably negligible over a 32" tire). With only a bolt-on suspension lift, you...

Thanks. I also talked to Darren and he said "...it is 5 hours from Ridgway (10 miles north of Ouray) to my home on the eastern side of Denver. The drive time is the exact same whether you head north to Grand Junction then over via I-70, or head east on Hwy 50 at Montrose, then north on 285 at...

    Baja500 Carnage Pics!!!

Whoa, that is a hairy stretch of road to break down and pull over on with all of the hills and curves. I'm just glad you had enough room to even pull over at all. That is a freaky break! Didn't Scott and Nathan just go through a similar scenario in Morroco? Very cool that the Vildosola guys...
