If I remember correctly, the LV-416 made by 4x4 Trailers of Nevada used a 3500 lb Dexter axle. Your VIN label if correctly filled out will show the GAWR (Gross Axle Weight Rating). You should be able to confirm your axle size from the VIN label.

We use them for some specialty equipment trailers we build. Simple system, not as effective as an air & shock combo but certainly better than a torsion axle.

366,000 miles on my factory original AX-15 5 speed manual. it is just now starting to exhibit some syncro wear. While a manual can be a bear in bumper to bumper traffic, I like feeling more connected to vehicle operation.

I have watched Vince open his. If I recollect correctly, he first props up the top from the inside with a 2x4 until its about 45-50 degrees, then he gets out, goes to the front and pulls it open the rest of the way with a rope. He does a variant of the process to close it. I'll let Vince chime...
