Yep, I used to follow those guys when they were en-route. That website is a blast! I have since taken the liberty to use the term "Doris" a few times... but usually keeping it to myself :p BTW, I watched your Moroccan pistes video and thought it was superb. Great job ;) and amazing that you...

    Outback Challenge: Morocco (Team USA)

Sunday Update! 7:00 PM Morocco time I just spoke with Scott on the phone. He called from the bedouin camp in the desert and he said the wind was kicking up pretty good. He sounds like he is on a really good high and just enveloped in the whole experience. Scott says everyone has just been...

Nice trip report. Very cool photos. That is such a nice looking Tacoma & Jeep. That first pic is really cool. Hopefully the trails will recover from your escapades :Wow1: Care to elaborate? :p

    Air or CO2???

Both have their ups and downs. It wouldn't be practical to fill a CO2 tank with your air compressor. But if you can afford to have an air compressor AND a CO2 tank for those trips where you want to take it, then you will have the best of both worlds. I go into a little more commentary here...

Oh yea, I forgot to mention that Scott said it was a bit HOT :sunny: I was messing around with NASA World Wind and did a couple of screen captures of the race area. One is "Landsat 7 Psuedo" geocover 1990, the other is "NLT Landsat 7" Visible color.

Tracy, you are fast! Hehehe - I just talked to Stephanie Brady and she said she got a call from Scott last night around 2:30 am with basically the info that you posted this morning. According to what she said, there seemed to be some uncertainty as to the official results. He felt like they may...

    Airing Down

FWIW, I don't think the busted bead issue is too much to worry about in sand, unless you are doing some really fast and hard playing with lateral forces on the tires. In sand, there isn't much to hold onto the tire that would create a condition where the tire has so much contact pressure that...

Can you help me with my GPS elavator ride?

LOL - yea, that would be cool. But then, most fantasies are cool :p BTW, regarding XM weather, I think the subscription service for that is a little spendy - just something to factor in to any decision-making.

    Airing Down

This is an excellent point to bring up Vince, and as you said - it depends on the vehicle and tire combo. Basically, a lighter vehicle with a stiffer sidewall is more likely to encounter the scenario you describe. But a vehicle like my Tacoma for instance (5,100-5,400 lbs on 32" C-rated tires)...

    Outback Challenge: Morocco (Team USA)

Tracy, thanks for the update! 48 hours on the ferry. Man, talk about time to kill... I am bummed because my wife said that Scott called a little while ago, and I wasn't here to talk to him! Not much news beyond what Tracy said. Sharon just said that Scott asked that I post on ExPo that they made...

    Airing Down

Yes, I think the size of tire, type of tire, and the weight of the vehicle are all factors. Larger tires can usually afford to run lower pressures than smaller tires. For your 80 series, if you are using a 32" or 33" tires, I would say that you could go down to 10-12 psi without an issue. BUT...
